This week, we bring you a very special, talented, and smart business woman whom we have had the pleasure of working {and relaxing!} with: Pooja Tulsidas. Pooja has been in the health & beauty industry for over 10 years — as a cosmetologist at Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon & Spas in downtown Chicago, and now as the owner of the only organic salon in Hoboken called The Salon” on 1st Street. Three years ago, Pooja moved to Hoboken and fell in love with its small town charm and friendly atmosphere as she opened her new business. She is joining Hoboken Girl as a contributor who will be sharing her organic/DIY tips on home-beauty remedies and regimens {since she is a seasoned at-home/DIY expert}! We thought what better way to introduce than to have her featured as Hoboken Girl of the Week? So, without further ado — here are her answers to our Q’s:

What is your favorite restaurant in Hoboken?

This is a hard one…. my family and I are always out trying new restaurants in the area. If I had to pick one for now, I’d say Matt & Meera is my new favorite! I love the Indian fusion flare they bring to their menu – very creative {and yummy of course}!

What is your favorite boutique in Hoboken?

Ever since I had my son, I hardly shop for myself, but if I ever need something, I can always count on State Boutique to help me get dressed for any occasion. They’re located right on 1st street near The Salon, so it’s super convenient!

What do you love most about Hoboken?

The people and the friendships I’ve made in town. Hoboken is by far the friendliest neighborhood I have ever lived/worked in.

What is your favorite thing to do in Hoboken?

Sunday Brunch alongside Sinatra Dr. and walking around the Pier.

How long have you been in Hoboken?

Going on three years now…I can’t believe it!

AXIS School of Dance

What is your favorite outdoor place to spend time in Hoboken?

Sinatra Dr. and Pier 13, of course. {HG note: I mean, food trucks, open space on the water — who wouldn’t?}

Ever After Proposals Pier 13

What is your favorite place to workout in Hoboken?

Ha! If I ever get to carve out time for exercise, I would love to be a regular at Local Barre.

Where do you go out with friends in Hoboken?

My gals and I love to try different cuisines and restaurants. Thankfully, Hoboken has an abundance of places to go — TEAK has to be one of my faves for a good girls night out! {HG says: their all-you-can-eat $25 Tuesday Sushi Nights are THE BEST!}.

What is something you think needs to come to Hoboken?

I’m a huge fan of ceramic [painting] cafes, and I would love to see one open in Hoboken!

Pooja says:

I have such a  love for Hoboken – three years ago when my family and I had to relocate to the East Coast, I was not a happy camper. After a few months and scheduling a few play dates in Hoboken, I immediately fell in love! The friendships I’ve made over the last couple years, the people I’ve met through work, and the warmth I have received from this town have all made a special place in my heart. Thank you, Hoboken. Much love.
