Hoboken Girl’s Mani Monday: A Visit to Nail Atelier

Happy Mani Monday! I hope you all enjoyed a weekend full of warm weather, relaxation, and Oscar parties.

While my hair picks and predictions were fairly accurate, I was disappointed E!’s mani cam did not make an appearance on this year’s Oscar red carpet. Thus, I made sure HG’s Mani Monday did not go by the wayside as well. To celebrate this year’s awards, I visited Nail Atelier located on the corner of 1st and Garden.

Customer Service.

The management and nail techs at Nail Atelier are very attentive, friendly and accommodating. I had visited on a stormy weeknight and to my surprise, the salon was still busy! Just goes to show how great this place really is.

Hobbs Inc

The woman running the front desk knew it was my first time there and had made sure to check in with me every few minutes during my wait to ensure I was going to be started next. Though I wasn’t in any rush, I appreciated her being respectful of my time and my appointment. My nail tech was Karina and she did an exceptional job! I prefer a very square shape on my natural nails and she filed them to perfection.

There was a fellow Hoboken Girl next to me refreshing her acrylic ‘claws’ and I gave her props! I’m not sure I would be able to function daily with those puppies, though I think it is a fun temporary idea. The tech working on her nails’ name was David, so if you are looking to switch up your nail game, he is your guy.

Polish Selection.

Nail Atelier has a vast selection of both regular polish and gel; their regular nail polish has its own glitter SECTION! Their gel collection includes Shellac, OPI, Essie and actually includes a ton of Orly and Gelish options as well. Their regular polish houses Color Club, Opi and Essie.

I got a BEAUTIFUL neutral from OPI that I’ve been dying to try, though, I regretted not selecting a shade of red for red carpet! What was I thinking? Please forgive me.

Cleanliness.

Nail Atelier uses packaged sterilized tools when working on their clients – always a plus! In general if you aren’t too keen on using the salon’s tools, you can always bring your own. I’ve seen a lot of women do this even with lotion! As someone who doesn’t love scented lotions, I keep a travel size tube of Aveeno in my purse just in case I prefer the nail tech to use that. Not everyone wants to smell like a secret garden of God knows what.

Vibe.

The salon is huge! I couldn’t believe how extensive it was when I walked in. The chandeliers and gray wood floors give it a wide open feeling.  At a quick glance, there are 9 manicure stations and 6 pedicure stations. There is even a small room towards the back that has 2 pedicure stations next to each other; if you are looking for some privacy, it may be worth requesting this for you and a friend!

Pricing.

The pricing for Nail Atelier is rather standard for Hoboken; $35 for a gel mani, $10 for a regular mani and $35 for a regular/mani pedi. If you are removing gel and receiving a regular manicure after, there is a $7 fee. If you are removing gel and are receiving another gel manicure after, there is no charge to remove the gel.

^Pictured here, “Taupeless Beach” gel by OPI. This mauvey-gray would look even better with a tan- doesn’t everything though?

All in all, minus the storm, I had a great experience at Nail Atelier and I’ll be back for more! If you live downtown this is definitely a good spot to bring someone visiting for the weekend – it is very spacious and requesting side-by-side services is easy to accommodate.
