Hoboken Girl {Mani} Monday : A Visit to The Nail Story II

It’s that time again, the leaves have fallen, the temperature is dropping, and your Thanksgiving Eve plans are anything but solid. Fear no more, Nail Story II has got you covered for the latest in 50 shades of Fall.

I’ve walked by this place a million times and each time I say “I’ve got to try this place!” {mostly because I am a sucker for a standout light fixture} and always end up at the same spot. But this time, I decided to check it out {since that my part of my job, right?}.

Customer Service.

Nail Story II {located at 101 Clinton Street} has friendly and attentive service. I should mention that my appointment was towards the end of the day, and upon arrival the ladies of the salon were exceptionally warm and welcoming. As a first time customer, I appreciated their positive response to me walking in an hour before they closed!

I will also mention that I was very indecisive of which color I wanted to ‘transition’ over to fall with {MAJOR DECISION, seriously} and my manicurist was very patient. She took each of the f i v e colors I narrowed my selection to and tried them on each nail. Honestly, this may only require an additional 60 seconds, but it really does help you decipher what your #mood is feeling.

Polish Brands & Selection.

I was pleasantly surprised at the selection for each of the basics; you don’t think about how many different shades of red there are until you see their OPI // Essie // Vinylux collection. And to be honest, they are ALL relative! This time of year if you go too red it’s too Valentines, if you go too orange it’s too Hamptons but if you find yourself somewhere in between…you find November. I personally was into a few rusty colors but steered my attention over to the mauvey purples {this is why I had five different nail polish dilemmas}. I settled on a color I’ve never come across and I am happy I did! I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on it and it wears very nicely. It is a week later and it still hasn’t cracked or chipped.

Cleanliness.

The salon was organized and clean – again the Monica {Friends reference, always} in me loved that the polish colors appeared gradient in order, the mani stations were wiped down and tidy and let’s not forget- the charming {and cute!} chairs were super comfy.

Extras.

Nail Story II carries OPI, Essie and Gelish gel as well. Something The Nail Story II practices that I haven’t seen anywhere else {yet}, is that they provide a number on the regular polish bottles correlating with the matching gel polish. For those of you who like to match your hand and toe polish, this is very convenient for you! I personally like to switch it up, but there are a lot of gals {and guys} who like to keep it precise.

They also have TV’s set up for your viewing pleasure, the Wifi name and code displayed for your virtual needs, and a cute little ring dish for you to put your valuables in. If you’re me…this is just for a fitbit. No diamonds here.

With a regular manicure, I also received a 2 minute shoulder rub while my nails dried which was absolutely lovely and unexpected {not all places do this – usually it’s with a gel mani, or not at all}.

I would definitely go back to The Nail Story II – eager to try out one of their specialty pedicures and dabble in some nail art for the holidays.
