There’s something for everyone going on in Hoboken this weekend. A chili cook-off and a wings contest? Grab your guy or your gals and head out to enjoy these weekend events.

1. Hands-on Jewelry Making Workshop  with Elizabeth Ann Evening or Afternoon @ EatMetal, Inc., The Fine Art of Design: February 26th & 27th 6:30-9:30 and February 28, 12:00- 3:00

Grab your girls and indulge your creative side with handmade jewelry. Each three hour workshop includes the cost of materials and tools for $85. Bring a friend and get 15% off or snag a group deal of 20% off for five or more people. Create designs using braided suede or single suede strands, learn wire wrapping connections, and forged S clasps. Play with colored suede and semi-precious beads. 2. “The Den Recording” Studio Showcase: Friday, February 27 at 8:30PM

We can always count on Maxwell’s to satisfy our live music craving and this weekend is no different. The Den Recording presents an evening of live music at Maxwell’s this Friday, featuring Secret Islands with Tall Days, Present Future & Young Legs. The show starts at 8:30PM tickets are $10 online or $12 at the door.

3. Court Street Tavern Wines of Italy Tasting:

Saturday February 28th from 1:45-4:00PM

Court Street will be present ten different Italian wines for their tasting event on Saturday. A selection of cheese and crackers will also be available. The cost of the tasting is $34.90 per person. 4. 3rd Annual “A Wing and a Prayer” to Crown Best Chicken Wings in Hoboken: Saturday, February 28th from 6:30-9:30PM.

The Third Annual “A Wing and a Prayer” chicken wing cook-off, hosted by the St. Francis Helpers, will be held on Saturday, February 28 from 6:30-9:30PM, at the Hoboken Elks Lodge located at 1005 Washington Street. Carpe Diem, the 2014 Champion, returns to defend its title against a strong lineup of culinary challengers, including San Giuseppe (2013 Champion), Biggie’s, City Bistro, Clinton Social, Green Rock, Hotel Victor, Johnny Pepperoni, Madison Bar & Grill, Mikie Squared and Smokin’ Barrel. Tickets $40 per person and include all-you-can-eat wings, sides, beer and wine – and the ability to cast your vote for “Best Chicken Wings in Hoboken!” Various raffles will also be held. 5. Fab Five Zumba Event at Fitness Meets Dance: Saturday, February 28th from 4-6:00PM

Calling all Zumba fans! Fitness Meets Dance presents New Jersey’s Fab Five Zumba Master Class featureing Marie, Wilson, Susan, Heydi & Hatsumi. This 90 minute Master Class will include some special prizes. Doors open at 4:00pm for sign in and the party begins immediately after. The event takes place at Willie McBrides. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

6. Hoboken Volunteers Chili Cook-Off: Sunday, March 1st from 2-6:00PM

Looking for a delicious way to spend your Sunday? Hoboken Volunteer’s Annual Chili Cook-Off and Homebrewing Contest will be heating things up for the 6th year in a row. The hottest chili and tastiest beer will be battling it out for the number one spot in your hearts, and stomachs. The event is being held at the Our Lady of Grace Gym located at 422 Willow Avenue. 7. Cask & Carry Irish Whiskey Tasting Event with the Liberty Humane Society: Sunday, March 1st from 4-6pm

On Sunday, March 1st at 4pm, your Liberty Humane Society will host an Irish Whiskey Tasting Event at Maxwell’s Tavern in Hoboken, NJ. Sample one half-dozen authentic, imported Irish Whiskeys, whiskey cocktails, and small-plates dinner sponsored by Yelp and Jameson Irish Whiskey to benefit your Liberty Humane Society. Each curated taste will be guided by a whiskey expert and served with delicious, hot, tapas-style plates.  Help in Hoboken’s stories Maxwell’s Back Room, this private event will educate new whiskey drinkers and thrill whiskey aficionados alike. Tickets are limited to this incredible opportunity, so be sure to reserve yours today.  Ticket prices $55 per person.

8. Book Launch at the Hoboken Historical Museum: Sunday, March 1st at 4:00PM

Join us as we celebrate the debut of the latest book by writer, world traveler and former Hoboken school teacher Bill Miller on Sunday, March 1, at 4 p.m. “I Was Born in Hoboken: Clotheslines, Summer Nights, and Growing Up in the 1950s and 60s” is a joyful memoir of life in Hoboken in the days before air conditioning, cell phones and TVs in every home. Miller weaves stories from his youth and tales from several friends into a richly detailed portrait of this factory town of his youth, a close-knit community that shared street games, Italian festivals, conversations over clotheslines and features at the beloved Fabian movie theater.
