• Hoboken Fitness: Zumba Nation by Alicia

This is Alicia. She is dynamite. I met her last week when I took her (sweat-inducing, amazing) Zumba class at the Monroe Arts Center (720 Monroe St).

Boy did I sweat during her class! If you are like me, you need a workout that gets you sweating but is not a borrrring gym routine (treadmill, lift, repeat). So that’s why I am so happy to introduce Zumba Nation by Alicia.

Just a year ago, Alicia opened the doors to Zumba Nation teaching just ONE class a week at the Monroe Center. Now, with the help of her bubbly personality and true love of Zumba, she is teaching SIX days a week. Alicia travels to other places to teach her classes, and seems to truly love where this adventure has taken her!

    Alicia says,

“When I started ZN [Zumba Nation], the thought was to make it about more than just going to Zumba Class…it was about building relationships…a FAMILY! ZumbaNation has even become active in the community. We call it “The Love of ZN”as we share our LOVE for Zumba with others beyond the classroom!

Some instructors may call it a JOB, but to me it is a privilege and a joy and I couldn’t be happier! This year has truly been amazing and I know there is SO much more ahead of both myself & the individuals who will continue to journey with me!”

Alicia not only certified to teach Zumba Fitness and Zumba Toning, but also she recently became certified to teach “ZumbAtomic” which allows her to share the zumba program with children. Talk about a fun gym class!

A girl after my own heart, Alicia uses her business to reach out philanthropically to the community as well. Alicia and her ZNers have been at the Hoboken Homeless Shelter’s opening ceremonies for the JDRF Race (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) at Liberty State Park and The Just 4U Children’s Expo to name a few.

Upcoming events for ZN by A [Zumba Nation by Alicia if you haven't figured that out] include June 10th’s For Hayden in Hoboken [a baby suffering with a serious heart condition] and July 7th’s Stars, Stripes & Zumba Event in South Jersey where Alicia will be raising money for Juvenile Diabetes (more info HERE).

Here’s a sampling of ZN by A’s busy Zumba Calendar for June:

It truly is a fabulous, upbeat workout that will make you sweat. I speak from personal experience…The music is fresh and you’ll recognize most of it (mixed with a bit of Latin flava). Classes are only $10 each, and if you bring friends you get amazing discounts ($5 for bringing 1 friend, FREE if you bring 2 friends, etc)!

Check out ZN by A on Facebook and Twitter as well – Besides being an amazing fitness instructor, Alicia is a social media butterfly!

Have you Zumba-ed with Alicia? How did you like it?

    • I have Zumba’d with Alicia for the past year, and I have to say her class is unlike any class I have ever taken. It is challenging and fun all at the same time. Her music selection is the best and her choreography is amazing! I highly recommend Alicia’s classes!
