Newport Beach Party Fun

Hobbs Inc

Newport Beach celebrated their anniversary last week and HG was there to eat, drink and dance the night away! Between the food vendors, live entertainment, photo booth, carousel and man-on-stilts, this was the perfect event to bring the kids or enjoy a fun date night. Overlooking the Hudson were some of Jersey City’s favorite bites including bwe and Loradellas. The Newport Beach party also featured two local bands The Fuzzy Lemons and The Benjamins which kept guests {big and small} grooving into the night! Hats off to Nicole and her team for throwing such a fun, detailed and organized event in the heart of JC.

We haven’t had a chance to test it out yet {hopefully this weekend!} but so far their reviews on Yelp have earned them 5 stars. Have you tested it out? Let us know!

Mile Square Theatre will present its second production of 2016 since completing renovations on the theatrical space. The world premier Long Gone Daddy will run from July 20th through August 7th at the 1400 Clinton Street performance space. The play is directed by MST artistic director Chris O’Connor and is written and performed by playwright-in-residence Joseph Gallo.  Long Gone Daddy is the follow-up to Gallo’s critically acclaimed Off-Broadway solo play My Italy Story and chronicles the comic misadventures of becoming a stay-at-home father.  From Bruce Springsteen concerts to OBGYN appointments to the Hoboken playgrounds and back again, Gallo’s semi-autobiographical play also wrestles with the memory of his own Dad, a former fireman, and the existential question, “When does a father earn the right to be called Dad?”. Tickets are $20. Click here for more information and to purchase tickets!

JerseyDigs announced exciting news recently when they detailed a potential redevelopment plan for Block 112 {the area right next to the 14th Street Viaduct} that would include residential towers, a hotel, and a bowling alley. A similar proposal was rejected in 2014 due to height concerns however, since that time the Hoboken City Council passed the Western Edge Redevelopment Plan which updated industrial restrictions and rezoned the area. The proposal is still in the early phases, but Mark Villamar and Henry Ahmed {the developers leading the project who also restored the Biergarten} are hoping to get the project approved.

She became inspired to continue overcoming the obstacles she faces after watching the struggles of Valastro’s mother while battling ALS. The Make A Wish Foundation will help grant Mary’s dream of baking a cake with Buddy Valestro.
