  • Hudson Cakery Launches a Retail Line of Baked Goods {+ FREE Cake Giveaway}

     Have you ever driven over the bridge to Weehawken and noticed the bakery with the “by appointment only” sign in the window? Right now you’ll also notice a Jersey Strong poster in the window, in a nod to the coming first anniversary of Superstorm Sandy. Anyway, that bakery is one of Hoboken and Weehawken’s best-kept little secrets…unless you’ve read all about the delicious gluten free/dairy free cupcakes I taste-tested a while ago.

    Started by Jennifer Bunce from her Jersey City home in 2009, The Hudson Cakery soon caught the attention of big time media including The New York Times and drew comparisons to The Cake Boss in the ‘Boken. According to Jenn, The Hudson Cakery was founded on a simple principle: that each and every item to come out of her kitchen is hand-baked from scratch and tastes just as good as it looks. Jen is very proud to be one of the very few commercial bakeries to bake from scratch. I’ve tasted her goods, and I can personally vouch for them…especially her aahhhhmazing cake pops. Red velvet of course.

    The Hudson Cakery has launched their first ever retail line of baked goods that boasts the same emphasis on taste that made their custom special occasion cakes so popular. This launch is a big deal because one of the biggest dirty little secrets of the baking industry is that most high volume bakeries simply aren’t able to hand-bake each and every item – it’s just not cost-effective. But Jenn found a way to do just that:

    Buttercream Beauties!

    Dessert-Style Buttercream Gourmet Buttercream Cakes, Buttercream Beauties as they are known at The Hudson Cakery, Gourmet Gift Towers featuring all hand-baked gifts, French Macarons, and the most delicious cupcakes can now be ordered with as little as three business days’ notice (editor’s note: the bakery is closed on Sunday) available in assorted sizes and decorated with sprinkles, ruffles, smooth, roses, or a rustic finish. So cute for bridal showers, baby showers, and other girly events {think:

    To celebrate this launch, The Hudson Cakery is offering a special 15% discount to Hoboken Girl readers on cupcakes, dessert-style cakes, cake pops, or sugar cookies {TIP: go with the CAKE POPS!!!!}. This discount is also good for the cakery’s Gluten Free cupcakes and dessert-style cakes. The code word is Buttercream Beauties and is valid until November 16!

    And now, the (even more) fun stuff:

    Comment on this article {about which type of newly released goodie you’d like to try} and you’ll be entered to win a 6” Buttercream Beauty in your choice of color + an optional personalized message on the cake!
