It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that you’re probably daydreaming about treating yourself to some fresh fall booties or researching new restaurants to try for happy hour — all while riding the train to work  {because that’s definitely what we do}. Lucky for you, your daily shopping experience got a lot easier and way less expensive thanks to the new Shop and Ride App, which recently debuted in Hoboken.

The location-based app is essentially your personal chauffeur to discover deals on food, shopping, services, nightlife and other fun things to do near your transit location. Whether you’re in the mood for some drink action or wanna shake what your mama gave ya at a dance class, you’ll find a little something for everyone on this app.

So why did Xerox choose to grace Hoboken first with this life-changing deal app?

First, we have a pretty amazing transportation system {we’re talking 200,000 transit riders}, the city’s proximity to New York, and of course, the plentiful and diverse merchants around the city {seriously, we need those nine lives to be able to try every place here}.

How Do I Sign Up?

Once you download the app and open it, you’ll see the home screen where you can choose a few different options to get the deals you want. At the very top of the page, you can select “Morning, Daytime or Evening,” then you can select what you’re on the hunt for {seriously so user friendly}. Once you’ve chosen your settings, all the deals that meet your criteria show up below! Easy, peasy.

Spot a coupon you *need*? Simply select it, and you can either use it right on the spot or save it for later. Now that’s what we call efficient coupon clipping.

How does it know where I am?

The Shop and Ride app is part of a new wave of innovations using beacon-driven technology {umm, English, please?}. Basically there are “beacons” placed throughout local bus stations and at the participating merchant sites, which communicate relevant info to each other {aka location and preferences so you get coupons you’d actually use} and it lights up on your phone when you’re near a deal. Capisce?

How much?

FREE. Our favorite four-letter word. As if this savings situation could get ANY sweeter.

Where can I shop?

Here’s a pretty current list of participating merchants that we know you already shop at on the reg {because we’ve talked about quite a bit of these here at Hoboken Girl}, so get ready to shop ’till you drop with a ton of savings:
