BareBurger finalist in top 10 for NJ Best Burger

We are so happy BareBurger came to Hoboken, and this is one of the reasons one. Their El Matador burger has made the final 10 in Pete Genovese’s search for New Jersey’s Best Burger. The El Matador is a bison burger topped with queso fresco, jalapeños, guacamole, green leaf, and spicy pico de gallo on a brioche bun. Hoboken Block Grant Program Accepting Applications

The Hoboken Community Development Block Grant Program has been allocated $153,000 in funding for public agency or non-profit organization programs and projects. The city is taking applications for the funding which is due by August 5th. The chosen recipients of the grant would see the funds as of September 2015. There is review and eligibility criteria laid out within the application. Previously the grant was given to and controlled by Hudson County, making all cities within it, including Hoboken, eligible to apply for the grant funds. This year, Hoboken has control over the division and with that will receive a greater amount of the funding. {For more information, click here}

Choc-o-Pain Represents Hoboken in NJ Le French Week

Le French Week is an annual celebration of French culture throughout NJ. Throughout the state various business participate and host events ranging from book readings to french painting. Local Hoboken bakery Choc-o-Pain participated in this celebration by hosting a children’s book reading and raffle drawing as well as featuring specials on the delicious food. If you haven’t visited his amazing spot, get there stat. Owner Clemence Danko told H-Mag her favorite goodie is their chocolate roll– and we totally agree. Plus, they had a free cheese tasting last week {but you saw it if you follow us on IG: @hobokengirlblog}!

The Bar Method Opens in Hoboken

The Bar Method recently opened a Hoboken location at 86 River Street downtown. Owners Lucia Almeida-Oliveira and Melissa Opsahl met at The Bar Method in Summit back in 2011 and, after falling in love with the technique, knew they wanted to make it their business. They are excited to share their passion with the Hoboken community. The studio is conveniently located by the path, bus and train stations in downtown Hoboken and has all the amenities you need to make the commute to or from work as easy as possible.

Hudson Restaurant Week to Begin July 27th

Restaurant week may be our favorite weeks of the year. The summer session of this bi-annual event will take place from July 27th-August 7th. Dozens of your favorite Hoboken and Jersey City restaurants will offer 3-course prix-fixe menus at reasonable prices. This is a great way to try out some new places without breaking the bank. PNC American Flag Flies Over Hoboken

The largest free-flying American flag
was flown in Hoboken over the 4th of July weekend in honor of Independence day. The flag, which is actually a giant hot air balloon courtesy of PNC bank and QuickChek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning, was inflated on Debaun Athletic Field at Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday to honor the country’s birthday. The balloon has been flown on the 4th of July weekend every year since 9/11 and this year Hoboken was the lucky recipient.

Jersey City Takes Over 4th of July Fireworks Once Again

Over fourth of July weekend Jersey City, for a second year in a row, took over the duty of putting on a good showing of 4th of July fireworks for the Jersey side of the Hudson River community. The 4th of July festival took place at Liberty State Park and lasted from noon until 10pm, which included the fireworks by Grucci. The event also featured live music all day, carnival rides, food & drink, and more. Such a great way to spend the 4th!

Park and Garden Open for Leasing

Bijou Properties’ newest building, Park and Garden, opened on Monday, July 13th for leasing.
