Workout of the Week is a new series on HG brought to you by the ladies of Iron Plate Studios. They’ll be bringing you workouts that you can DIY or at the gym {or hey, do on your lunch break in your office!} to get you that fit bod you’ve always wanted and target those tricky areas! Without further ado, here’s your workout of the week:

________________

You found the man, the venue, and the dress.  Now you want to look your absolute best for the Big Day. Whether you just got engaged last night or are halfway through planning your wedding, it’s never too late to start investing in the best possible YOU.

There are three main areas that show the most in your dress: chest, back and shoulders. Working hard in these areas will showcase your sweetheart neckline, and you’ll be glad you did. For each exercise, start with a comfortable rep range of 12-15, but you can lower rep counts and increase your weights as you get stronger.

Many exercises will help develop these areas, but here are three that are part of the IronPlate Wedding Dress Workout that won’t want to be missed. Here they are {with the help of one of our lovely clients}:

Hobbs Inc

Push Ups:

A classic and a wedding dress favorite, this exercise is one we all love to hate.  However, it helps develop chest muscles as well as those triceps and will give you a tight look through the upper chest and back of the arms. For these, do as many as you can to failure — but make sure you have good form [butt down, back flat!].

Back Row:

Another classic with many variations [one arm dumbbell row, bent over row, wide grip, close grip, etc] is great, BUT any type of row [a pulling movement] will work the muscles through your back, and help to develop a little bit of a V-taper [sexxxxxy].   Also, any type of row will also hit those biceps and add a little more definition to the arms.

Overhead Press:

A personal favorite with a few variations as well; the overhead press helps to develop all three parts of the delts {shoulders} and give a little bit of roundness to the shoulder.  And the best part of this exercise?  If you’re a little hippy, it helps to balance out your physique by adding some width through the shoulders which creates symmetry down below.  A win-win, if you ask me!

Remember: these don’t need to be done every day; you can do 3 sets of 15 a few times a week and really see results over a period of time {combined with cardio and a healthy diet, of course}.

Stay tuned for our next workout of the week, coming soon!
