This year marks the 21st anniversary of 9/11. Each year, Hudson County hosts events and ceremonies to honor the lives lost from our communities. We’ve compiled a list of 9/11 events in Hoboken, Jersey City, and the greater Hudson County area. Read on for a list of 9/11 events happening in Hudson County this year.

Bayonne’s Teardrop Memorial Event
When: September 11th at 7PM
Where: Harbor View Memorial Park, on the eastern side of the former Military Ocean Terminal at Bayonne (MOTBY)

Guttenberg Remembrance Ceremony at Town Hall
When: September 11th at 10AM
Where: Town Hall, 6808 Park Avenue
More Information: Two Guttenberg residents died in 9/11: Rebecca Lee Koborie and Lt. Robert Cirri, a Port Authority Police Officer, who was among the first responders who went into the North Tower. Click here for more information, per Hudson Reporter.
Hoboken’s 9/11 Interfaith Memorial Service
When: September 11th at 2PM
Where: Pier A next to the City’s 9/11 Memorial in the northwest area of the park.
More Information: All members of the public are invited to attend the City of Hoboken’s annual September 11th Interfaith Memorial Service. The memorial is aligned in the direction of the World Trade Center site and includes a steel beam base with a glass panel for each of the fifty-six Hoboken residents lost on September 11th, 2001. Each panel is engraved with a name and is illuminated at night. The memorial is located within the grove of ginkgo trees which are also aligned with the World Trade Center that were planted in 2002 as a living memorial. Click here to learn more.
Jersey City’s “Reflections” Ceremony
When: September 11th at 8:30AM
Where: Jersey City’s 9/11 Memorial, located at the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway and across from where the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center once stood.
More Information: Jersey City will host its annual “Reflections” Ceremony on 9/11. Mayor Steven M. Fulop, dignitaries, family members, and community members will come together to remember the 37 residents the city lost.
North Bergen New Memorial Unveiling
When: September 11th at 1PM
Where: Corner of 79th Street and Boulevard East in North Bergen.

Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise, North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco, Hudson County Commissioner Chairman and Hudson County Democratic Organization Chairman Anthony Vainieri invite the public to join them for the unveiling and a ceremony on September 11th at 1PM to honor the four North Bergen residents who were killed on 9/11: Christopher Amoroso, NBHS Class of 1990; Robert Cirri, NBHS Class of 1980; Sal Edward Tieri, NBHS Class of 1978; and David LaMagne.
Resiliency in Action HEART 911
When: September 12th at 7PM
Where: BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, 199 Chambers Street New York, New York
More Information: New York City-based nonprofit organization HEART 9/11 will hold its second annual September 12th tribute event to mark the day New York’s first responders rose from the horrors of September 11, 2001 and began the courageous and dangerous mission of finding survivors and recovering those who were lost. This year’s tribute event, Resiliency in Action, will honor members of the FDNY, NYPD, PAPD, and Greater New York Building trades who rushed toward the destruction of September 11th to assist however they could and the selfless COVID-19 frontline workers who have spent days, weeks, and years throughout the pandemic once again answering the call to save their fellow New Yorkers. This night will include musical performances, celebrity guests, awards, and more. General admission is $50. Tickets can be purchased here.
Secaucus Memorial Ceremony
When: September 11th at 8:30AM
Where: Secaucus Public Library, 1379 Paterson Plank Road
More Information: All are welcome to this 9/11 Event. Secaucus Boy Scouts will present the colors and police and fire will attend. 6 Secaucus residents were killed in 9/11. Click here to read more, per Patch.

Union City’s Ceremony of Remembrance
When: September 11th at 9AM
Where: Liberty Plaza, 30th Street between New York Avenue and Palisade Avenue, directly across the street from the Main Post Office
