From bathing suits to riding boots, and flip flops to fall-time flats, there is no better time than now to get your wardrobe prepped and ready for fall and winter! New York Fashion Week has come to a close, there’s a chill in the air, and it’s time to hit up your favorite shops on Washington Street to make sure you’re covered with these must-haves for the apple-picking weather. Here are a few of our favorite fall staples:

1. Jumbo Wrap Scarves

It may not be time to break out your favorite puffer coat yet, but it’s about to get chilly! The subtle winds of fall are brewing, and the newest accessory to hit the Mile Square are giant wrap scarves.

A favorite part about this fashionable staple is that it can fold and fit into your purse if the summer sun decides to sneak back up on you. They’re easily transferrable via bus/subway/PATH, so as Cady from Mean Girls once said,”The {scarf} limit does not exist!”

2. Suede and Fringe Everything

Fringe is in if you haven’t noticed. From jackets to skirts to handbags, suede has invaded every street corner in Hoboken, so getting your hands on something warm and fuzzy should be easy; the only hard part is keeping it clean {luckily Hoboken has plenty of dry cleaners to solve that problem}.

3. Pleated Pieces

Say yes please to pleats {from Mint Market on 1st}

We know you don’t want to look like Britney circa 1999 wandering the streets of Hoboken, but casual pleats make a big statement. Skirts, dresses, and even pants are folding their seams to make a big impression for the new season. Add some gorgeous baubles and you’ll really be making a statement.

4. Overalls & Bell-Bottom Jeans

You heard right, the 90s are back and I can’t say I’m upset. C’mon ya’ll, how comfortable were those overalls back in the day? Overalls seems to be the new romper fad, and you can walk {or if you’re me: run} to your local thrift store to snag a pair before you miss out on the comfiest throwback trend yet! I’ve dressed my tattered pair down with my white chucks, and up with jeweled mini heels – imagine all the possibilities in between!

5. Pointed-Toe Flats & Heels

Lady Loafers are all the rage these days, so don’t miss out on scooping up some pointed-toe beauties before the snow hits the streets! Always admired/adds a chic twist: the perfect pairing of slip-on flats to complete your closet! Heeled booties with a pointy toe also add a statement and dress up any casual outfit.

6. Comfortable Boots

Living in Hoboken, I’ve come to appreciate the value of comfortable boots. Walking everywhere is no easy matter when it comes to frozen toes and high heels. Over-the-knee boots have been gaining momentum in the big scheme of fashion, but having any pair of great boots can really impact your fall-time adventuring! A bit cliché, but for all its worth, your boots better be made for walkin’, cause that’s just what they’ll do… And we’ve found some great ones at Peper and Parlor on 10th and Washington.

Whether your style is preppy or laid-back, we have your fall fashion necessities covered from uptown to downtown. Now, for your final preparation: grab your favorite PSL {made locally} and say hello to another season in style.
