Offering a fresh and delicious spin on brunch, Beechwood Café in Jersey City, located at 290 Grove Street, right on the corner of Grove and Mercer next to City Hall, has a little something for everybody to enjoy. The Atmosphere
True to its name, upon entering the café you will find that it is dotted with adorable beechwood accents, including wooden tables topped with marble slabs, counter seats lining large picture windows that look out onto Grove, and seasonal decor. Beechwood is also always bustling, so while you may need to wait a little bit for a seat, it’s well worth it.
The Food
First things first: brunch — paired with an ah-mazing iced coffee. With notes of vanilla and the right amount of bitterness, this caffeinated beverage is quite refreshing. Diners looking to add a little hair of ze dog with brunch should keep in mind that Beechwood is BYO, so make sure to pick up a bottle of champs beforehand. The brunch menu served until 4PM on the weekends, features all of the classics including pancakes (matcha and regular), French toast and omelets, as well as some stellar breakfast sandwiches.

Do yourself a favor and check out the ELAT: fried egg, lettuce, avocado and tomato on challah bread or choose from the many varieties of eggs benedict. Vegetarians, there’s even a fried tofu benedict. The brunch plates are not to be missed either: from the huevos rancheros to the pan-chicken plate, which includes two pieces of fried chicken with pancakes and jalapeno green mayo.
We dug into the Chili Fajita Burrito, and ordered some tasty breakfast meats on the side. The burrito, which contains egg, cheese, ground beef, and pico de gallo, is simply scrumptious, wrapped perfectly so that every bite is evenly proportioned – not always an easy feat. Add to that some thick-cut, crispy bacon and maple-flavored sausage, and there’s a super filling brunch that will hold diners over till dinner.

During the week, Beechwood also offers breakfast and lunch menus, breakfast all day, and lunch beginning at 11AM. The menu includes burgers, sandwiches, and entrée bowls, including the kimchi bowl, or the penne alla pesto.
