With the summer weather in full swing, more local happenings are filling our calendars including street fairs, carnivals, and other festivals around New Jersey. There’s nothing like living in New Jersey and experiencing the different seasons all year round, but festival season is one of our favorites. From the La Festa Italiana in Jersey City to the Montclair Jazz Festival, there are all different types of festivals, street fairs, and carnivals to check out this summer. Read on for a list of spring and summer festivals, street fairs, and carnivals in New Jersey for the 2024 season.

HDSID Handmade Market | Grove Street Path Plaza, Jersey City

Wednesdays + Saturdays through September 18th | 3PM-8PM (Wednesdays), 12PM-6PM (Saturdays)

The Handmade Market is an open-air bazaar featuring various local artists and makers hosted by the Jersey City Historic Downtown Special Improvement District (HDSID). The goal of the market is to support handmade goods as an alternative to mass-produced items. Learn more here.

The Affordable Art Show at Liberty State Park | 1 Audrey Zapp Drive, Jersey City

July 13th, 14th, 20th, + 21st | 11AM-6PM

The Affordable Art Show is hosted by Art House Productions and will take place at the CRRNJ Terminal at Liberty State Park. The types of art represented will include painting, collage, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and more. All of the pieces are priced between $30 and $500 and can be purchased on-site.

Jersey Creators Market | 930 Newark Avenue, Jersey City

July 13th-14th | 3PM-7PM

Zap Fitness

This streetwear, vintage, and art experience will be held at a spacious industrial location in Jersey City (located near the Journal Square PATH Station). Locals can shop 1:1 pieces from the East Coast’s top emerging brands and vintage resellers, and enjoy sponsored freebies, photo opps, and art installations. Tickets can be bought here.

St. Ann’s Feast | 704 Jefferson Street, Hoboken

July 24th-28th

St. Ann’s Italian Festival will return for its 114th year in Hoboken. This six-day feast is taking place at 704 Jefferson Street. Patrons can expect authentic Italian cuisine — from Zeppoles and wood-fired pizza to fried calamari and seafood salad. Also, there will be a beer garden and live entertainment to enjoy while munching on classic Italian food. Learn more here.

Record Riots | Grove Street PATH Plaza, Jersey City

July 27th | 9AM-5PM

Record Riots are a festival for music lovers filled with new + vintage vinyl. More than 40 vendors set up in the Grove Street PATH Plaza in Jersey City for this festival a few times each year, and the event is free to attend. Other upcoming dates include September 28th and October 26th.

New Jersey State Fair | 37 Plains Road, Augusta

August 2nd-10th | 10AM-10PM

Garden State residents can head to the Sussex County Fairgrounds for the annual New Jersey State Fair — a state-wide summer celebration. The event will feature exciting activities like a lumberjack competition, demolition derby, monster truck show, and more, as well as family- and kid-friendly entertainment. Salem County Fair | 735 Harding Highway, Woodstown

August 5th-9th

From August 5th to August 9th, The Salem County Fair will be held and requires no admission fee. Parking is available for $20 on all five days of the fair. Farm animals, a tractor pull area, a skillet throw area, and food are some of the highlights of the Salem County Fair. Learn more here.

La Festa Italiana | 344 6th Street, Jersey City

August 7th-11th | 5PM-11PM

La Festa Italiana has been a loved tradition in Jersey City that dates back to 1902. For five days in mid-August, this old-world festival brings together local restaurants and food vendors, live entertainment, games, and rides for the kids. It is a festival to celebrate Italian American Culture. Learn more here.

What Hoboken Sounds Like’s 2nd Annual Summer Blockfest | 770 Jackson Street, Hoboken

August 10th | 12PM-7PM

This Summer Blockfest will include live music, art, and food, among other things, and is hosted by What Hoboken Sounds Like. Learn more here.

Brazilian Summer Festival | 226 Rome Street, Newark

August 17th | 3PM-10PM

Patrons can participate and indulge in Brazilian culture at this festival. Tickets can be purchased here.

 

 

 

Westfield Street Fair + Craft Show | 221 South Avenue West, Westfield

August 24th | 11AM-5PM

Westfield will be opening up its roads for a street fair and craft show. Patrons can browse amongst vendors selling arts, crafts, and other shoppable goods. Admission is free and more information can be found here.

The Hoboken Italian Festival | Sinatra Drive Promenade, Hoboken

September 5th-8th

The 2024 Hoboken Italian Festival is a celebration of Italian heritage and will include live entertainment, food, and more. The Feast Day will be held on Saturday, September 7th, when the 800-pound statue of Madonna Dei Martiri (or Madonna of the Martyrs) is carried through the streets of Hoboken from St. Francis Church. Wine on the Beach | Seaside Heights

September 7th-8th | 12PM-5PM

To mark the end of summer, Seaside Heights is hosting its annual Wine on the Beach festival featuring wine and gourmet food from dozens of local wineries and vendors. The event will take place on the Seaside Heights boardwalk. More information can be found here.

2024 Montclair Jazz Festival | Lackawanna Plaza, Montclair

September 14th | 12PM-8PM

The 2024 Montclair Jazz Festival will have eight hours of live music, a curated selection of food and merchandise, and fun for the whole family. The festival will take to the streets of downtown Montclair, closing off Bloomfield Avenue to traffic at Grove Street to Midland Avenue. Ticket information can be found here.

HDSID All About Downtown Street Fair | Newark Avenue Between Grove + Coles Streets, Jersey City

September 21st | 12PM-8PM

The All About Downtown Street Fair features vendors selling everything from handmade candles and jewelry to local businesses promoting their services and wares, hosted by the Jersey City Historic Downtown Special Improvement District (HDSID). The event will also have kids’ rides + face painting, beer gardens, and live music throughout the day. Learn more here.

Walnut Street Fair | Walnut Street, Montclair

September 29th | 11AM – 4PM

The Junior League of Montclair-Newark, Inc. will host a street fair on Walnut Street in Montclair. Local Walnut Street businesses will be featured and there will be live music and performances. Over 250 vendors and displays, food trucks, a beer garden, Touch-A-Truck, and a family fun zone are other highlights of the street fair. Learn more here.
