North America's largest soufflé pancake chain is coming to Jersey City. The Japanese-style treat destination, Fluffy Fluffy USA, will be laying down roots at the Newport Centre Mall located at 30 Mall Drive West, Unit VC12B with a grand opening happening this weekend. Chances are you've seen the ever-growing virality of Japanese-style soufflé pancakes all over the internet. The bouncy, fluffy, and kind of adorable pancakes are totally eye-catching and often topped with colorful toppings with everything from fruit and chocolate to matcha powder and other savory twists. Now, Jersey City residents will get to try these unique creations for themselves at Fluffy Fluffy Dessert Cafe.

Fluffy Fluffy Dessert Cafe is part of the franchise Fuwa Fuwa Pancakes founded back in 2018 by Benson Lau. Fuwa Fuwa (which translates to Fluffy Fluffy in Japanese) first began in Toronto, Canada, and soon expanded to China in 2021 before making its way to the UK and USA in 2022 under the name Fluffy Fluffy Dessert Cafe. Now Fluffy Fluffy has locations in Florida, Texas, Georgia, California, New York, Alabama, and New Jersey with over 30 locations worldwide. Founder, Benson told FSR Magazine earlier last year that growing up in Asia inspired the creation of Fluffy Fluffy and he hopes to expand to have 200 stores in North America soon.
The New Jersey expansion will include all of Fluffy Fluffy's core menu items from around the world such as soufflé pancakes, savory "croffles", burnt-top cheesecakes, coffee and espresso-based drinks, teas + refreshers, macarons, roll cakes, and more. Plus, Fluffy Fluffy will launch two new exclusive treats only available at the New Jersey location: the cheese tart and the fluffy churro.
What Makes Them So Fluffy?

The process of creating these ultra-fluffy pancakes "begins with egg whites whipped to soft peaks" according to the company's website. Then the "fluffy pancake mix is made using locally sourced milk and is free of artificial additives, essential to their airy quality." Next, the mixture is cooked slowly at a "low temperature for up to 20 minutes, creating a high-quality dessert." Each dessert at Fluffy Fluffy goes through rigorous recipe testing and development with the goal of never being "overwhelmingly sweet", and using only the finest ingredients.

On March 15th from 11AM-9PM and March 16th from 11AM-7PM, Fluffy Fluffy Dessert Cafe will host a grand opening to commence its New Jersey debut. The grand opening will take place at 30 Mall Drive West, Unit VC12B (in the Newport Centre Mall food court).
