Weekday? Check. Weekend — bring it on. This weekend has plenty festive events to keep you merry and bright. From a couple holiday-themed Liberty Humane Society events helping out our little furry friends to the official Hoboken Christmas tree lighting ceremony, you could say it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Here are 16 things to do this weekend in Hoboken and Jersey City {December 7th – 10th}:

Center Stage For Change at The Shepherd and The Knucklehead: Friday, December 8th from 8:00PM-11:00PM

Help the Shepherd & Knucklehead {1313 Willow Ave} donate to education relief in Puerto Rico with a Center Stag For Change event. Half of the proceeds will go to the cause — expect performances by artists and musicians. $50 open bar from 8-11PM on Friday night!

 If shopping for everyone on your list hasn’t exactly crossed your mind — don’t stress — the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District’s {HDSID} Jersey City Holiday Market and Craft Fair is just around the corner {to help you get all your presents in a one-stop-shop}. The craft fair is going down this weekend in downtown Jersey City and will feature tons of your fave local vendors, including plenty of food from Midnight Market, so you can support small. Makin’ Merry for the Hairy Holiday Party: Thursday, December 7th from 6:00PM to 11:00PM

Don’t forget about your furry friends during the holidays! Make this season festive and bright with Liberty Humane Society’s holiday party for shelter pets at The Archer {176 Newark Ave}. December Happy Hour at The Hutton: Thursday, December 7th at 7:00PM-12:00AM

What’s December without a happy hour or two? Join the Have A Night team for a merry time at The Hutton Bar & Grill {225 Hutton Street}. There will be deals on beer, cocktails, and wings ONLY for those that RSVP — and there’s only 80 RSVP spots available, so make sure to get your name in here. You’ll also enjoy music by James Calleo with Jack Breslin.

Singles Mixer at Corgi Spirits: Thursday, December 7th from 7:00PM-10:00PM

Hoboken Christmas Tree Lighting: Thursday, December 7th at 5:00PM

It’s not Christmas until the Hoboken tree is officially lit {note there is a day change on this due to the rain on 12/6}. Head out to Hoboken City Hall for the lighting event complete with other festivities like bands and choirs from local schools in Hoboken.

Aaraa Accessories Pop-Up Shop: Friday, December 8th at 5:00PM – 9:00PM

The first of three holiday pop up parties is this Friday night at Aaraa Accessories, 408 6th Street, Hoboken from 5-9pm. Shop the new collection and sale styles while sipping on festive drinks and getting help from Aaraa resident stylists Tiffany Piñero and Maria Afonso as they guide you to the perfect gift… or gifts. Surprise discounts and holiday fun will be occurring all night long!

*Aaraa is open limited hours throughout the holiday season, but will be open every weekend through 12/31. Please check their Facebook page for openings during the week.

The Box: Fear Edition at Merseles Studios: Friday, December 8th at 6:30PM

The Jersey City Theatre Center is hosting a showcase of original music, poetry, mixed media, and more — all on the topic of fear. The night starts at 6:30 with an artist reception and at 7PM the performances will begin. There’s a $5 suggested donation at the door. Get more details here.

Hoboken Ski Club Holiday Party: Friday, December 8th from 8:00PM-11:00PM

Head out to The Shannon for the HSC’s holiday party. Food will be from Luca Brasi’s, and there will be an open bar option for $35. Get more info here. 

Ruta Reifen Trunk Show: Saturday, December 9th from 1:00PM-6:00PM

Get some shopping done at The Golden Carrot with a Ruta Reifen Trunk Show. The jewelry designer is from Brooklyn and has perfect accessories for everyday. Plus, everything will be 15% off, there will be plenty of rosé to sip on. P.S. — The Golden Carrot will also be having a pop up with Sarah from Park & Bloom from 12PM-4PM, where you can buy small, festive wreaths.

Party For a Cause at Birch: Saturday, December 9th from 3:00PM to 5:30PM

It’s the season of giving, and one local mom who was just diagnosed with stage 4 cancer needs our help more than ever. Her family is overseas, so she is in dire need of help with medical and childcare bills, so Birch is hosting an event with Little Hoboken to raise money for her. Tickets are $25, which will be donated to the family, and includes a performance by Songs for Seeds, treats, balloon animals, crafts,and a cash bar available.

Soul Night’s Gospel Brunch: Saturday, December 9th from 11:30AM-3:30PM

Hear from Reverend Dr. Calvin O Butts III of the Abyssinian Baptist Church at a gospel brunch to uplift your spirits. The Christmas-themed event will feature one of New York’s most recognized gospel singers, Anthony Bryant. Tickets are $45 – $400 and the event is at a private location. Sign up here.

Wedding Showcase dockside on board the Atlantica: Saturday, December 9th from 11:00AM-3:00PM

39 Steps at Mile Square Theatre: Through Saturday, December 23rd

If you’re ready for a laugh this holiday, catch Mile Square Theatre’s {1400 Clinton Street} newest show — Alfred Hitchcock’s classic thriller, 39 Steps. The cast includes Joe Delafield (Tartuffe on Broadway), Helen Hayes Award Winner Zachary Fine, Evan Zes (Signature Theatre’s Incident at Vichy), and Hoboken’s Alycia Kunkle. The show runs through December 23rd. Deux/Ndioune Ndiare Art Gallery Opening Reception: Saturday, December 9th

Celebrate the grand opening of the Deux/Ndioune Ndiare Art Gallery at the hob’art Gallery {720 Monroe}. The exhibit will feature the newest work of Ibou and Liz Ndoy, who are a recently married couple that have had the unique opportunity of working side by

Kids Ride Free on NY Waterway Through January 1st
