With Thanksgiving now behind us, the time has come to start getting ready to fill your calendar with all the holiday celebrations – your work holiday party, family affairs, and of course, social events in Hoboken + Jersey City. This year, Chanukah {or Hanukkah, depending on your prefs} comes early in 2018 {beginning on December 2nd and ending on December 10th}, and there are a lot of events to celebrate the Festival of Lights in Hudson County. December 4th – Annual Chanukah Soirée – Chabad Young Professionals of Hoboken & Jersey City

December 2nd – Public Menorah Lighting at Hoboken City Hall – Chabad of Hoboken & Jersey City

Join the community for a show of Jewish pride as we light the Menorah outside Hoboken City Hall. This event is free and open to the entire community. For the kids: LED Menorah rings or builds a dreidel lego kit, for everyone: delicious, hot latkes, jelly and other filling Sufganiyot {doughnuts}, chocolate ‘gelt’, menorah kits, music and dancing and a great start to Chanukah.

December 2nd – Home Depot Menorah Workshop for Kids – Chabad of Hoboken & Jersey City

Want to have fun with the whole family, while building a keepsake menorah with your little one? Check out the Chabad of Hoboken and Jersey City event sponsored by The Home Depot. Children will receive a worker’s apron and have the opportunity to build their own menorah, while parents and families will enjoy music and refreshments. December 3rd – Jewish Heritage Night at NJ Devils with United Synagogue of Hoboken

United Synagogue of Hoboken has reserved 20 seats that are available for purchase for Jewish Heritage Night at the New Jersey Devils game vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning. This unique Chanukah gift will be a great experience for all in attendance and includes a post-game performance by the Maccabeats. December 3rd – HDSID Annual Christmas Tree + Menorah Lighting

Join the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District {HDSID} for its annual Historic Downtown Tree Lighting + Menorah Ceremony. The event will take place at the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza in Jersey City from 6:00PM-7:00PM.

December 5th – Latkes & Vodka – Jewish Young Professionals and United Synagogue of Hoboken

December 6th – Chanukah Monte Carlo – Mesorah NJ

December 7th – Special Hannukah First Friday Shabbat Services – United Synagogue of Hoboken

Enjoy special Shabbat services to celebrate Chanukah at United Synagogue of Hoboken. Music by Rabbi Scheinberg, Adam Laden, and Adam Parker, followed by kiddush and refreshments. Services begin at 7:00PM. No RSVP required — more information can be found here.

December 8th – Hanukkah Storytelling and Candlelighting – United Synagogue of Hoboken

Join United Synagogue of Hoboken and professional storytellers from the community, as well as USH members, entertain the congregation with personal stories. They will touch your heart and make you laugh – all while celebrating the Festival of lights. More information can be found here.

December 8th –Jewish Federation’s Hanukkah in Hudson

Join the Jewish Federation for their Hanukkah in Hudson event at the Hamilton House in Jersey City {255 Brunswick Street}. Enjoy a wine and dessert reception {for those age 21 and older}. All dietary laws will be observed at the event. Get more information here.

December 9th – Chanukah Family Celebration – Chabad of Hoboken & Jersey City

Join Chabad of Hoboken & Jersey City as Chanukah comes to a close with a family party in Jersey City, featuring a magic show, balloon sculpting, Chanukah cookie decorating, crafts, gifts, menorah lighting, refreshments, and more. More information and tickets can be found here.
