Now that the sun is shining {you know, when it’s not raining}, it’s a beautiful time of year to enjoy all our mile square city has to offer, especially if you love living that #fitlife. Luckily, there’s a host of options for Hoboken’s wellness guru, foodie, or environmentalist residents and visitors who love nourishing their minds + bodies. Here are five upcoming events in Hoboken sure to please any health-conscious Hobokenite.

1. Trader Joe’s Grand Opening {OPEN!}

No more lugging bags across the river from Union Square, or giving up your parking space to drive to Edgewater. We finally have our very own Trader Joe’s at 1350 Willow Ave. You already know why we all love TJ’s but here are a few HG insider tips that you may not know: 1) Bring your own reusable bag to enter the weekly gift card raffle, 2) Take advantage of their generous sampling policy — if there’s a product you’d like to try, walk it over to the sample counter and an employee will give you a taste, 3) TJ’s stores can give you a dietary list of their many gluten free, vegan, and kosher items, and 4) Ask nicely and you’ll get a free sticker at the register. #adulting.

2. Seasonal Cooking Class at ShopRite {May 23rd from 7:00PM – 9:00PM}

Harborside Sport + Spine

You may have spotted the dietician counter last time you blew past the registers at ShopRite {900 Madison St.} towards the ice cream — I mean almond milk — section. Did you know the ShopRite dietitian hosts monthly “culinary workshops” {aka cooking classes} with a three-course menu for only $20 per person? Head over to Customer Service to book your spot. This month’s “Season’s Bounty” menu looks Insta-worthy. And if you can’t get in this month because they sell out quickly, try back next month or make a free appointment with the dietitian to get personalized recipes and shopping ideas to suit your healthy lifestyle.

3. Hoboken’s First Wellness Crawl {June 4th from 11:00AM – 4:00PM}

We absolutely cannot wait for Hoboken’s very first Wellness Crawl — it’s like a bar crawl, except for your mind and body. With check-in spots at Devotion Yoga {downtown}, Hoboken University Medical Center {midtown}, and Fit Foundry {uptown}, you’ll have exclusive access to 50+ local business participating and you’ll be able to test out treatments, get free consultations and sample products, as well as sign up to take free fitness classes throughout the day. Grab your friends and get yourself some tickets to this awesome new event {PS: 10% of ticket sales will go to the Adult Congenital Heart Association}. Join us as we celebrate health and wellness in the Mile Square. Use code HGINSIDER for $5 off your tickets!

4. Hoboken Green Fair {June 3rd from 11:00AM – 4:00PM}

The annual Hoboken Green Fair will help you learn how to take better care of our planet, and features sustainable, eco-friendly products from some of our favorite local vendors {Simply Juiced, Taproot Organics, Revival Vintage}. A stroll over to Church Square Park on June 3rd {or 4th if it rains} will be a guaranteed responsible weekend decision. {HG insider info: The Hoboken Green Team is hosting free, monthly Wellness Wednesdays events with local speakers at the Hoboken Public Library throughout 2017.}

5. Taste the Spring {and Early Summer} at Sobsey’s {All Season Long}

Foodies are still recovering from the news that Sobsey plans to sell or close his iconic store, but quit sobbing {get it?} and race over there while the getting’s still good! At 92 Bloomfield St, taste the bounty of spring veggies: the expected and delicious, Jersey asparagus, the trendy and subtle, foraged ramps and — for the most adventurous foodies — the downright strange-looking wild fiddlehead ferns. There’s even an early showing of California apricots, cherries, nectarines, and peaches if you’re hankering for a preview of summer stone fruit.
