From Memorial Day to Labor Day, there is no shortage in town of crop tops, mini-dresses, and cut-off shorts. But after summer nights filled with margs, boardwalk fries, and other deliciousness, you may be craving some healthy eats {while short on time}. You’re in luck — we’ve rounded up seven of our favorite healthy grab-and-go meal options in Hoboken.

1. Total Nutrition Kitchen {322 Washington Street}

TNK

Hello Hydration Sidebar

As the name suggests, this nutritious downtown locale offers so a variety of healthy pre-measured options, created by two personal trainers, Wally & Chris, who know their stuff {ps: they’re JACKED}. They have fridges stocked with to-go, pre-made meals including Paleo, gluten-free, and vegan options, perfect for those with dietary restrictions or those just watching their physique. From the gym to the couch in no time {sans cooking/meal prep}. Plus, they deliver!

2. Honeygrow {120 Washington Street}

Hobbs Inc

^Our honey bar pick with seasonal berries and LOTS of toppings!

Honeygrow has only been open in town since late September 2015, but they quickly have become a staple downtown spot for commuters getting off the PATH {7pm is a serious rush!}. The beauty of Honeygrow is that their menu lists all of the nutrition facts for each of their items, and you can make your own salad or order one of their options {made to order at the click of some of their computer button kiosks}. Looking for a sweet fix after your meal? The Honeybar for the win {above}: options of seasonal fruit of your choice covered in local honey and whipped cream, obviously. One major drawback to Honeygrow: no delivery option just yet. Fingers crossed it comes soon!

3. O’Bagel {600 Washington Street}

Delicious bagels? Flavored iced coffee? Check, check! O’Bagel also has awesome sandwiches and salads — they recently rolled out some potato bowls and quinoa bowls which are great for those going gluten-free or just watching their simple carb intake. With ingredients like fresh veggies, turkey bacon, potatoes {not fried}, and eggs, O’Bagel is upping their game with healthy menu options.

4. Simply Juiced {262 1st Street}

This small juice spot has the freshest pressed juices, smoothies, and to-go gluten free and vegan snacks. The smoothies can be custom-made or grabbed from the fridge if you’re on the run. They also have vegan meal options like their veggie lasagna, coconut crepes, or açai bowls. Bonus: They deliver. Juice in bed, doesn’t get healthier than that {beauty sleep, obvvvviously}.

5. Bareburger {515 Washington Street}

^Collard Green wrap = THE BEST

Bareburger’s organic, all-natural, and local menu makes us so excited! Besides the delectable sides, building your dream burger is great. They have all different kinds of meats to choose from, including bison, elk, wild board, and duck. Additionally, their collard green wraps are the perfect way to go low carb {is that even a thing anymore?} or gluten-free when opting for a burger indulgence {ps: you need to try the SoCal burger…omg}. For the vegans and vegetarians in the house: there are also a variety of vegetarian and vegan options! The best party? They deliver.

6. Makai Poke {521 Washington St.}

Intimidated by the idea of poké and wondering what to include in your bowl? Not to worry! The staff at Makai is super friendly and will guide you through the line. First you start with a base — bowl, salad, or burrito, then you pick the protein(s) of your choice. The options cater to all, including vegetarians and vegans. From there, the mix-in choices are endless, and then you get to top it all off with sauces and crunches. {PS: use our Hoboken Girl Deals Directory [here] when you order and you’ll get 10% off your next Poké burrito}.

7. Shake Bowl {720 Monroe St.}

When you walk into Shaka Bowl, you’ll find a full-scale build-your-own bar of organic açai, pitaya, and poké bowls with smoothies and frozen yogurt to boot — perfect for a breakfast, lunch, or even dinner sitch most nights of the week. You may be a bit overwhelmed with the options — as there are a TON. It’s not a Chipotle-style situation where there’s a receiving line to swiftly create your bowl, buuuut it’s an easy order from the prominently displayed table, pay, and then wait at a table for your name to be called, and voila — you’re on your way!

Enjoy these seven yummy spots when you’re on the run, and make sure you leave room for some dark chocolate and a glass of red wine — HELLO antioxidants! Your body will thank you.
