Shopping locally isn’t only a great way to support small businesses —  though, that’s reason enough. Oftentimes, those one-of-a-kind statement pieces that complete an outfit are hidden on the racks of local boutiques + vintage stores. In pursuit of establishing our personal style (and helping you do the same), we’ve compiled a list of Hoboken’s amazing boutiques, complete with the vibes + price points to expect from each. Alba Boutique | 716 Washington Street

Alba is a Hoboken hotspot for all things contemporary and classic. This boutique carries easy-to-wear and stylish brands (similar to Nordstrom) that are known for mixing and matching making each item impeccably practical for creating different looks. Alba hosts many fun in-store events (champagne included) and although their prices are a little steeper than average, it’s worth it for the enjoyable and personalized shopping experience — including quality and convenience.

Hobbs Inc

As the sister store to alba, a X d boutique offers a very similar in-store experience to alba. The difference at a X d, however, is that it sells more trend-driven pieces, similar to those of skirt and crop sets, tie-dye styles, and more. Some of the trendy brands shoppers can find here are BlankNYC, Quay sunnies, Vintage Havana + Hayden LA, and more. Plus, everything in the store is under $100.

Brooke and Bel | 60 4th Street

Brooke + Bel features brands such as LoveShackFancy, Cotton Citizen, WeWoreWhat, Nicholas, Levi’s, LTHJKT, Electric Picks Jewelry (a local Hoboken designer), and much more — the perfect mix for a girl that wants to elevate her every day. Not only does the shop sell beautiful clothing but accessories + giftable items like candles, coffee table books (oh hello Assouline books!), and jewelry. This store is a one-stop shop for everything you need to look and feel your best.

Cabana Club | 419 Washington Street

Per Cabana Club’s mission, its website states that it wants customers to shop for “beautiful clothes without breaking the bank.” Pieces on the website and storefront can range from $30 to $90, which makes it an average-priced boutique to shop at. However, it can depend on what kind of fabric and style shoppers are purchasing. Cabana Club highlights travel fashion but features everyday fashion wear items as well. Sweaters, going-out tops, pants, dresses, accessories, swimwear, and shoes are a part of Cabana Club’s lineup.

Daisy’s is a women’s clothing store specializing in linens and specialty jewelry. The owner, Daisy, individually selects each item sold with care — and, per testimonials (which we concur), the styles are “styles are timeless, appealing, classy and comfortable.”

Dune + Salt | 730 Washington Street

This storefront has an upscale, coastal vibe with a selection of clothing and accessories for men, women, and children. For men, Dune + Salt has items from the sustainable brand, Outerknown — while brands like Hartford, Frank + Eileen, a knit-driven brand made in LA, and Kule, a nautical brand with gorgeous cashmere and luxe shirts, anchoring the women’s offerings.

Dor L’ Dor | 413 Washington Street

Another boutique filled with variety, Dor L’ Dor’s expansive shop is endless, and its prime location makes it a go-to for many residents. They carry Steve Madden and other popular brands, as well as the typical wholesale boutique styles, all at reasonable prices.

Galatea Lingerie | 1224 Washington Street

Not only does Galatea carry the most beautiful and luxurious lingerie brands (think Casabella, Only Hearts, Hanky Panky, 3Dots, Ling, and more), but they also sell candles, bridal accessories, pajamas, robes, and other gifting items. The price point is reflective of the amazing quality of the imported goods from France and Italy, aka weekly swoon-worthy international shipments. Not to mention, the sales associates are welcoming and knowledgeable in providing solutions for every body type.

Hoboken Clique | 1204 Washington Street

Hoboken Clique is an uptown girls’ boutique haven specializing in “tween” wear. The shop recently underwent new ownership but is still home to fun accessories and fun clothing items — catering to every tween’s dressing need (including boys, with the addition of a curated boys collection). Brands sold here include Living Royal, Watchitude, DL1961 denim, and more.

Lido | 632 Washington Street

According to its website, Lido aims to elevate the shopping experience from a mere transaction to something more meaningful and intimate. A self-described “curated edit for the modern woman,” Lido has a chic selection of women’s tops, pants, and dresses — among other things. The shop also has a range of knitwear, from sweaters and matching sets to cardigans. Fashionable as they are functional, these pieces add a layer of coziness to the Hoboken boutique’s collection, without sacrificing the luxurious vibes. And, in the spirit of this comfy luxury, Lido has Chanel and Gucci bag candles, which will pair well with the shop’s knit pieces

Noellery is the place if you have an accessory need. From earrings to sunglasses, Noellery carries an overwhelmingly large variety of goods to adorn any outfit. Their home (think bath soaps and office supplies) decor is also so cute if you are wanting something more unique and beyond the traditional HomeGoods finds.

Finally, menswear. The owner at Oran Apparel is known for his taste and selection of men’s goods. Whether looking for clothing for the workweek or weekend, Oran Apparel has everything for the Hoboken man. Even a Yelp reviewer stated: “The unique and curated assortment of both stylish and timeless Men’s wardrobe essentials, along with the service provided by both Oran and his staff is a testament to the caliber of his shop.”

An Anthropologie-esque shop full of boho maxi dresses and leather shoes, Peper & Parlor is another community staple that has been dressing the women of Hoboken since Their copious selection of (over 30) designer brands like Ulla Johnson, Citizens of Humanity, and Bow and Arrow jewelry provides a plethora of style inspiration for local fashionistas.

Revival Vintage Boutique | 86 Park Avenue

Revival Thrift is more than just a local thrifting page on Instagram. The unique vintage finds that this seller offers all have a personal, revived touch to them. Whether it’s reworking an old top into something more fashionable or upscaling an accessory, Revival Thrift is a pro.

This hybrid “espresso bar and lifestyle shop” has been a staple to the Hoboken shopping scene since it first opened. Praised for their specialty and direct trade coffees, the cool vibes of this shop encourage visitors to also peruse their assortment of clothing items, bags, home goods, and accessories which are all sourced from local designers, craftsmen, and artisans.

Thrifted by J+D | 526 Adams Street

New as of this spring, the thrift shop is run by a married couple of Hoboken locals who are excited to bring thrifting in Hoboken and Jersey City to a whole other level. ​Inside, shoppers can find vintage music players, DVDs, wine glasses, jewelry, sneakers and shoes, and handbags among other things. There is also a variety of designers featured such as Adidas, Madewell, Zara, Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, Coach, and Michael Kors, However, the spot focuses on highlighting men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing.

Vintage on First | 257 First Street

This colorful store boasts the “illest” and “dopest” (as stated by a fellow Yelper) gear from the ’90s and beyond. With daily additions to their racks (and a surprisingly strong menswear selection), this shop is a true gem. And although they had a rough start (back in 2018), Vintage on First is here to stay and we are so happy for them.

Washington General Store prides itself on its carefully curated cozy collections. From Sugarfina sweets to Mud Pie trinkets, there is something for everyone on their shelves.

Wicked Scents | 163 2nd Street

As well as carrying the local private brand Lucid Flame Candle Co., Wicked Scents carries favorites like Yankee Candle, Bridgewater, Votivo, Rock Creek Soaps, and more. This relatively new shop (as in 2021) is dedicated to candles, with diffusers, essential oils, bath bombs, and soaps up for grabs, too.
