Hoboken Fitness: Prime Cycle Downtown {Review}

There’s a downtown spot in Hoboken that will have you getting your sweat on while having the ultimate dance party — nope, it’s not a bar, but it is conveniently located just steps from the PATH at 70 Hudson Street. Prime Cycle has recently expanded to include a downtown location, which opened its doors officially back in March. We’ve been fans of theirs since visiting their original location uptown, so naturally, we couldn’t resist giving their downtown studio a spin {pun intended}.

Ambiance

You know that feeling you get when you kind of want to skip your workout after a long day at work? {And season five of #OITNB may or may not be calling your name?} Well, this may be the remedy to that post-workday-pre-workout limbo we all know all too well. Upon entering the studio, you’ll be surrounded by bright interiors, fun apparel and cute cycling necessities a la customized water bottles and matching shoes. TBH, it’s hard not to feel the good vibes and get motivated. Their staff is super friendly, and will even offer to “upgrade” your bike closer to the front/center row if the class isn’t full. You’ll also find super clean locker rooms featuring state-of-the-art automatic lockers, changing rooms and YES, showers — a not-easy-to-find amenity in many boutique fitness studios which is a must when you’re close to the PATH.

Convenience: 10 out of 10 {It’s super easy to pop in and out for a class right off the PATH. Plus with shoes and water provided, you’ll have plenty of extra room for some post-workout Prime Cycle swag. Bonus points for being able to wear flip flops to class and changing into shoes!}

Cycling

The class we took was called ‘Fierce 45’, as in 45 sweaty fun-filled minutes of Prime Method cycling that will PUSH your limits and leave you with the ultimate endorphin-high. Much like the O.G. Prime Cycle, the workout is anything but your average spin class, which can definitely be attributed to their way above average instructors. Dani’s 6:00 p.m. Wednesday class will make you werk werk werk and reach RPMs you didn’t know were possible. You’re also likely to get a good climb {aka a lot of resistance} in between beat-driven tap backs and arm toning. We may or may not have been called out {via bike number, not name!} towards the end of class to spark a little healthy competition {Dani, you are our spirit animal}.

Workout Difficulty

9 out of 10 {You may be in charge of your own resistance, but Prime Cycle Downtown’s instructor’s have one goal: to motivate you and get your booty into shape — on the beat.}
