The Hoboken Girl team is spearheading a feminine products and baby supplies drive across Hoboken to benefit WomenRising. This is being done in partnership with a group of local businesses that are serving as drop-off locations for the event. Last year, we hosted a 1-day “drive” and collected over 1000 feminine products and baby supplies. This year we’re hoping to triple — maybe quadruple — the amount. But we need your help. About Women Rising
Women Rising is an amazing local non-profit organization which has been a lifeline to women and families in need of financial assistance and emotional support {due to being victims of domestic violence} for over 100 years. Many families and victims of domestic abuse living in the Hudson County region have found success while using the resources provided by the local organization.
Since 1911, the Board of Trustees — a group primarily led by women — began to provide women and their families with access to helpful services. Some of the successful programs offered by the organization are the Domestic Violence Program, the Family Advocacy Program (FAP), and Family Support Services (FSS).
So this month, as you head to the pharmacy or grocery store, take a few minutes to grab an extra item or two to help our cause, and drop off at any of the spots above. Together we can truly make a difference!

The Hoboken Girl Sandwich on Alessio’s Menu Now Raising Money for a New Non-Profit
In honor of International Women’s Month back in 2024, The Hoboken Girl partnered with local restaurant Alessio’s to create The Hoboken Girl breakfast sandwich as a fundraiser for York Street Project, a Jersey City-based non-profit dedicated to helping individuals in need of shelter, food, and education in the Hudson County area.
After becoming a permanent fixture on the menu due to popular demand, our readers helped us choose the second non-profit to benefit from sandwiches: the Hoboken Public Education Foundation (PEF), a non-profit organization that supports Hoboken Public Schools and its students. Over the course of 2024, we donated over $5,000 to the two non-profits, and now have a new reader-chosen charitable partner to benefit: Hudson County CASA, a non-profit organization that connects children in the foster care system with advocates. You can order The Hoboken Girl at any of the three current Alessio’s locations to contribute to the cause (and your breakfast order).
Every quarter, we'll announce a new non-profit to donate our sales to. Read on to learn more about The Hoboken Girl x Alessio's sandwich collaboration which took months to develop, as well as what's to come for our sandwich for a cause, and of course, where and how to enjoy it.

The March 2025 Update
After selling almost 2,000 sandwiches in 30 days last year, it was excitedly decided that our collaboration was going to continue — and will continue to give back to local non-profits, too. Every quarter, we'll be switching the non-profit we're giving back to for a portion of the sandwich, in hopes of raising awareness for local non-profits as we go. This quarter, we'll be giving back to Hudson County CASA — a non-profit organization that connects children in the foster care system with advocates.

The Collaboration
This collaboration took months to come to fruition, and the entire Hoboken Girl team worked with Alessio’s on the ingredients, taste-testing multiple versions of sandwiches before picking our favorite — and we can confirm that it’s delicious (and gluten-free, if you want it to be!).

The sandwich was only supposed to be available at both Alessio’s locations for March 2024, where The Hoboken Girl team donated our portion to the York Street Project. But due to popular demand, we brought it to the menu FULL-TIME, and now give back to a different non-profit each quarter.

Ingredients:
‘The Hoboken Girl’ breakfast sandwich consists of:
- Scrambled eggs
- Cheddar cheese
- Caramelized onions
- Avocado
- Homemade crispy hashbrowns (gluten-free*)
- Jalapeno + avocado aioli
This can be served on sourdough bread or a wrap.
The bread or wrap can be substituted to be gluten-free*
There are also dairy-free options available (no cheese).
The sandwich as stands is vegetarian.
*Not confirmed as 100% Celiac-certified, so if Celiac, proceed with caution.
Alessio’s also recommends adding breakfast sausage or bacon to the sandwich.
Every quarter, we'll pick a new non-profit to donate to for the next three months. This quarter, we'll be giving back to Hudson County CASA.

Alessio’s, which has a location at 539 Park Avenue in Hoboken and 99 Franklin Street in Jersey City, is an Italian pizzeria and cafe that serves up everything from coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries to pizza, paninis, and gelato. Owner Luca Infantino was born and raised in Italy and moved to the United States in 2011. After living in Weehawken, Luca fell in love with Hoboken and paved his way in the fashion industry before taking the jump into food service and opening up the Hoboken location in 2020. The Jersey City location opened in summer 2023, and the cafe’s next project — Terrace by Alessio's — opened in Hoboken’s Northwest Resiliency Park last spring. Alessio’s also has two kiosks in Pier A Park during the summer months, and is opening up its newest venture called Casa Italia Gourmet Market at 6th and Park Streets in Hoboken soon.
Alessio’s — named after Luca’s son — has quickly become a staple in the Mile Square and is known for its authentic Italian products and the real feel of an Italian cafe. The spot prides itself on the quality of its food, customer service, and being involved in the community. “We are proud to be a "community-based" business, a safe place for children, students, families. Alessio's always supports charity requests, events sponsorship, etc,” Luca shared, “Partnering up with The Hoboken Girl has been a dream come true.”
About Hudson County CASA

Hudson County CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates) was founded in 1976 and is a national non-profit organization dedicated to advocacy work for neglected and abused children. CASA supports children by providing dedicated advocates to look after their well-being in various areas. Many cases that CASA supports involve situations of parental neglect, drug or alcohol abuse, and inappropriate conduct that children witness from family members.
The work that CASA does is made possible by dedicated volunteers who are assigned children who need the resources. This means that CASA relies on volunteers to make these efforts possible.
Volunteer options and ways to donate can be found on the organization’s website. We will also be donating a portion of the sales of the sandwich for this quarter to Hudson County CASA, with more to come. So keep enjoying your sammies, for a cause!
