November Project Workout- Friday, June 19th at 6:28AM

Start your morning off with a fun workout! The November Project is a movement whose goal is to encourage fitness around the nation. They have been to 19 cities and the exercise enthusiasts are now headed to Hoboken. The best part about these workouts is that they are free and easy to join, as they would say “you just show up.” The workout will occur at Pier A starting at 6:28 a.m. The November Project holds weekly workouts and designs exercises for different fitness levels.

The Hoboken Wine House is hosting their very own seminar this Friday to give you hands on experience on how to entertain your thirsty crowd. Stop by to get some tips and meet new people.

 

NJ Funny Fest: Friday, June 19th – Saturday, June 20th at 9:00PM

The first annual NJ Funny Fest will put on five comedy shows to help raise money for the Liberty Humane Society.  There will be donation buckets passed around at each show, letting the audience decide exactly how much money to donate. In addition, the NJ Funny Fest pledges to donate $1 per person in attendance of each show. The NJ Funny Fest is a five day event full of talented comedians. Friday night’s show will take place at The Brightside Tavern, 141 Bright Street, Jersey City. Saturday night’s show will take place at Taphaus located at 2 Second Street, Jersey City. Both shows begin at 9 p.m.

 

Live Music Fridays at Maxwell’s: Friday, June 19th at 10:00PM

If you are in the mood for live music Maxwell’s Tavern is the place to be this Friday. This show will feature musicians Static Summer, The Shiftand local singer, performer, and artist Ed Smith will be at this Friday night! Smith’s first performance was at Maxwell’s Tavern in 1991 playing the best rock ‘n’ roll music of the 80’s and 90’s. Ed Smith describes his band as one of the very few who still play straight rock ‘n’ roll. The show starts at 8:30PM and tickets are $10 at the door.

Rummage & Ruffage Midtown Farmers Market: Saturday, June 20th at 8:00AM

It is almost officially summer and Rummage and Ruffage’s  farmer’s market will be in full swing again this Saturday. There will be yoga starting at 8:00AM with Kate Decock {bring your own mat!}. Starting at 9:00AM the farmers, vendors, and rummage tables will be open! The farm stands will have tons of fresh produce from coffee by Bean Vault Coffee, cold-pressed juices by Mo Green Juices, Asprocolas Acres Farm, pork products & amazing eggs from Stonybrook Meadows Farm, baked goods from Meredith’s Bakery, essential oils and teas formulated by Ariele’s Apothocary, mutz and flatbreads by Tony’s Farm table by Tony Boloney’s. Rummage tables are also for rent – $20 for one 6-ft table. The market will be held at the Church of Holy Innocents on the corner of 6th and Willow.

 

Hoboken Olympic Day: Saturday, June 20th from 8:30AM-6:00PM

Looking to get that quick morning workout before you start your Saturday? Join and participate with local workout businesses in the Hoboken Olympics. There will be a 35-Minute Boot Camp workout, CKO kick boxing, fun runs, and exercises and activities for kids to enjoy. Hoboken Olympic Day will occur at Pier A park on Sinatra and 1st Street. and is free for all residents. Get your fun-filled day of health and fitness!

Hamilton BARK! Festival: Saturday, June 20th from 12-6:00PM

It is that time a year again for the Hamilton BARK! Festival. This year’s festival will include food trucks, beer trucks by Lucky 7’s and Brooklyn Brewery, canine field day, adoptions on site, a children’s carnival and activity section including bounce house and face paint, and table-top vendors run by local businesses.  The festival’s main purpose is to support the homeless animals at the Liberty Humane Society. The festival will be located at Hamilton Park in Jersey City.

Hoboken Hoopla Carnival: Saturday, June 20 from 12-6:00PM

Mile Square Theater is launching another cultural events- The Hoboken Hoopla Carnival. The carnival is fundraiser for the build out of the new theater space for Mile Square Theater, under the viaduct in uptown Hoboken. The carnival will feature a wide range of entertaining summer activities and will be great for kids and families including bouncy houses, a dunk tank, petting zoo, face-painting, carnival booths, a beer garden, activity booths from arts-related businesses and non-profits. Street performers will stroll through the crowds and there will be a music stage. The Hoboken Hoopla Carnival will be held at Maxwell Place Park, 1025 Maxwell Lane in Hoboken.

Free Yoga 101: Saturday, June 20th from 12:45-2:00PM

If you’re always wanted to try yoga but had no idea how to do it, Devotion Yoga’s: Yoga 101 is the place start. This free workshop teaches all of the basic poses needed to begin a yoga practice and attendees will get individualized attention to help them make sure they’re doing the poses safely. There will be lots of room for questions and at the end, teachers Lara Nicotra and Kate Lombardo {a Hoboken Girl team member!} will give suggestions of what classes to take next. The workshop runs from 12:45-2:00PM at Devotion Yoga. Devotion Yoga is located on the second floor of 12 Hudson Place {right next to Teak}.

Father’s Day Date Night: Saturday, June 20th from 5-7:00PM

Urban Jungle Play is giving Father’s a night out! The daycare is offering parents a three hour date night where children will enjoy free open play, activities, and a pizza party while Mom and Dad are out on the town. Father’s will be able to drop their children off at from 5-7:00PM at the cost of $30 dollars per child or $25 per child for siblings. There will also be open play during the day on Saturday and Sunday for father’s and their children to spend time together and do crafts at a charge of $2o for a single child and $15 for each additional child.
