Hoboken Girl Weekend Events Guide: October 2nd {2015} Edition

Events this weekend aren’t as plentiful as usual– many were cancelled due to the upcoming weather, boo! However, if you’re going out to brave the storm {which at this point seems like a false alarm}, there are still some fun ones going on around town! Just be sure to check on their status as the weekend goes forward. If you’re planning on staying in, we’ve also included some fun at home “events” you can do to keep entertained! Be safe this weekend!

Whealth Pop-up Tasting Dinner: Saturday, October 3rd

Whealth is teaming up with Smith & Chang to bring an intimate Pop-Up dinner experience to downtown Jersey City.  They’ll be a serving a 3 – Course Tasting Menu highlighting the tastes of the fall harvest season. As an extra special treat, Emma from Milk Sugar Love will be the guest Pastry Chef for October. These events will be hosted throughout October and November. It’s definitely a dinner series not to be missed with a new menu every week to keep you coming back for more! Get your friends, get their friends and lets EAT, SHARE and CONNECT! hob’art Cooperative Gallery Street Fair: Saturday, October 3 from 11:00AM-6:00PM

The hob’art cooperative gallery will be hosting a street fair fundraiser on Saturday, October 3, 2015. The block of Monroe Street between 7th and 8th streets in Hoboken will be closed to traffic from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. that day. The fair will feature booths from tenants of the Monroe Center for the Arts and members of the hob’art collective, selling their original art, jewelry, and crafts, along with gently used clothing, books, and other great items.  The fair will be free to attend and will include activities for the children of Hoboken, a DJ providing music throughout the day, and much more.

 The Hoboken Mary Tasting: Saturday, October 3rd from 3-6:00PM

The Hoboken Mary an all-natural Southern Style Bloody Mary Mix created in Hoboken and distributed since 2013 is hosting a tasting at Cork Wines this Saturday from 3-6:00pm. Come taste this fat-free, gluten-free, low sodium, and low calorie blood mary mix.

 

Wines of Napa Valley Tasting at Court Street: Saturday, October 3rd from 1:45-4:00PM

Court Street has been hosting their Saturday wine tastings often recently and we’re not complaining!  This weekend they’re featuring wines from Napa. The cost of the tasting is $40 per person {including tax and gratuity}. A selection of cheese and crackers is served during the tasting, however, Court Street strongly recommends that you have lunch prior to the tasting because they are not open for lunch. Laugh with Lassie- Hoboken Comedy Festival: Sunday, October 4th

On Sunday the Hoboken Comedy Festival is taking Viaduct Park on 14th Street between Grand St and Adams St in Hoboken to entertain canines and owners during a four hour comedy bonanza. The show is part of a seven-day and eleven-show comedy festival and will feature the top new talent acts that submitted to the Hoboken Comedy Festival side by side with veteran pro comedians.  The event will benefit the Liberty Humane Society through a direct donation admission charge of $10, and will feature a Beer Garden hosted by the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The festival will also support the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps, through beverage sales all throughout the entire festival.

 

Brunch at Teak on the Hudson: Sunday, October 4th

Teak is having their first brunch of the fall season. DJ’s Danny D’angelis and DJ Cream will be there, along with special guests DF Tony Gia and DJ GKidd. Teak’s brunch is definitely a party-style Sunday Funday. Doors open at 1:00PM. Email vip@teakonthehudson.com for VIP reservations.

Fun “Stay At Home for the Hurricane” Events

1. Classic Movie and Pop-Corn Night

Pending there’s still power, pop in a favorite movie you haven’t seen or in a while. Or, go for a new release {Pitch Perfect 2 anyone?!}. Make some popcorn, turn down the lights and cozy up for a true at-home movie theatre experience. 

2. Casino & Cards Night

Grab a deck of cards and host casino night. Play poker, blackjack, or bullsh**.  If you’re not in the mood to gamble, tie it in with some truth or date. The loser has to do whatever the winners say. So many ways to stay entertained!

3. Host a Wine & Board-Game Night for Your Neighbors

Get to know more people in your building by inviting them over for a game night. As everyone to bring their favorite board game and a snack or a bottle of wine. Make sure to have some great party classics around– Taboo, Apple to Apples, and Cards Against Humanity are always a safe bet.  If all else fails, play charades– it will make for lots of laughs!

4. Light Some Candles and Read a Good Book

Our lives can all be crazy busy. Use the bad weather as an excuse to curl up with a good book and unwind. Light your favorite candle, grab a cozy blanket, and get lost in a whole new world.
