Urban Jungle Play’s “Date Night”: Friday, May 15th at 5:00PM

Calling all mommies and daddies! Urban Jungle Play, a great new children’s center uptown in Maxwell, is hosting a “date night” where parents can register to drop off kids at either 5:00pm or 6:00pm for two hour time slots. $30 includes open play in their jungle room, an arts and crafts activity, and a pizza dinner. Such a great way for the kids and parents to have a play date. Take advantage of this awesome opportunity.

Fitness for Life Event: Saturday, May 16th from 8:00AM-11:30PM

Fitness for Life is a special fitness driven event that occurs the morning of the Relay for Life Event at Pier A in Hoboken, NJ.  It is a unique series of classes hosted by some of our local gyms and fitness instructors.  Classes start at 8am on Saturday May 16th and you can sign up for one or all classes.  100% of proceeds from the classes benefit to Relay For Life in Hoboken, NJ.  Each participant will receive a Relay For Life tee shirt and be entered in a raffle to win a $100 gift card from Massage Envy good at any of their locations. Tickets are available for purchase through Eventbrite. This year’s class schedule is as follows:

Relay for Life Hoboken: Saturday, May 16th at 10:00AM

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is the world’s largest and most impactful fundraising event to end cancer. It unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. With the support of thousands of volunteers, the American Cancer Society is helping save more than 400 lives a day. And they won’t stop until we finish the fight against cancer! Please join this amazing organization this weekend at their all day event.  It’s hard to think of a more worthy cause.

 

Hoboken Irish Festival: Saturday, May 16th from noon-6:00PM

Let’s be honest, festivals are fun and the Hoboken Irish Festival is no exception. Head to Sinatra Park this Saturday for the annual event. This year will feature clothing, crafts, food, pony rides, and a beer garden.  Live music and Irish Step Dancing performances will continue throughout the day to provide festive entertainment. And, any time we can get a slice of soda bread outside of St. Patty’s season is definitely a reason to celebrate.

hob’art Gallery The ‘Limited Edition’ Exhibit: Thursday – Sunday, May 15th-June 7th from 1-5:00pm

Last weekend the hob’art gallery began their month long photographic exhibit of limited edition pieces by established photographers Ann Kinney and Roy Wright. Both artists create evocative imagery, with an emphasis on form and color. This show promises to be a feast for the eye and a true destination point for those who appreciate culture as well as having a great time. This Saturday features an artist’s talk at 3:30pm. The gallery is open Thursday-Sunday from 1:00-5:00pm or by appointment in the Monroe Center. Call 201-683-6265 for more information.

Princess K.I.M, The Musical Comes to Town: Saturday, May 16th – Saturday, June 27th

Princess K.I.M. The Musical is coming to Hoboken this weekend and can be watched at various places around town. The Mile Square Theater will host the musical at The Edge, at 14th and Clinton in Hoboken on Saturdays from May 16th-June 27th at 10:00AM. You can also see a production of it at Little City Books this Sunday at 11:00AM. . Princess Kim is an upbeat, humorous musical that touches on universal themes such as fitting-in, honesty, love and friendship. Set in current day, the characters, who each have unique personalities and traits, will leave you laughing, while touching your heart. The music is a contemporary mix that will have you singing along. The play lets kids know that no matter what, they BELONG in this world. The show is recommended for for audiences ages four and up. Tickets for the Mile Square performances are $15.

Hoboken Happy Hours Kick-off to Summer Bar Crawl: Saturday, May 16th from 1-8:00PM

We looove Washington General Store. It’s seriously such a great spot to grab a unique gift for anyone on your list. They’ve had a great first year and are celebrating with special deals this weekend. Cantigas Women’s Choir Spring Concert: Saturday, May 16th at 7:30pm

Hoboken’s own Cantigas Women’s Choir presents its 13th annual spring concert titled WHISPER! SHOUT! SING! The choir’s diverse international repertoire spans from Mexico and Brazil to Syria and American gospel, including Imant Ramish’s Missa Brevis in C Minor, Pablo Casals’ Eucaristica, Keith Hampton’s Praise His Holy Name, Aaron Copland’s Zion’s Walls, and Marcos Leite’s Tres Cantos Nativos Dos Indios Krao. The concert marks the debut of Syrian composer Wassim Ibrahim’s Damascus Breeze, which he wrote specifically for Cantigas after meeting Litman in Damascus five years ago. The event will take place Saturday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church (707 Washington Street at 7th Street) in Hoboken, N.J. The suggested donation for the concert is $15 ($5 for seniors and students).
