Nestled between Clinton and Willow are two streets atop cobblestone roads lined with quaint brick homes that appear mini in size. This little community, adorable as it is historical, is known as Willow Terrace and we were lucky enough to be able to peek inside one of these stunning Hoboken homes thanks to our home design and decor contributor, Tatiana of @HobokenHomes. Read on to learn more about Tonya and Mike’s gorgeous home {+ of course, get a peek at the interior — all photos by @geocv3d}:

About the Homeowners

Tonya and Mike attended college at Suny Plattsburgh at the same time but started dating after graduating when they connected through mutual friends. Fast forward four years they are currently planning their dream wedding, parents to their dog Russell, and proud Hoboken residents.

Tonya and Mike purchased their home on Willow Terrace over a year ago. They were not actively looking to purchase a home but came across this gem and could not pass it up. Tonya described her feelings as she first walked into the house “I felt emotional, like tears were building up in my eyes when I first walked in.” — pure signs to knowing you have found your new abode.

The Home

Upon walking in, you are greeted by original exposed brick that carries on throughout the whole home. The living room is furnished by an Apartment 2B couch and an Urban Outfitters coffee table and entertainment console. The wine rack is from local boutique, Washington General Store and most of the pillow/throws are from Anthropology.

A favorite part of the home was the first-floor bathroom. Tonya and her soon to be mother-in-law found the wallpaper from Anthropologie and took on the ever-so-difficult task of covering the whole bathroom in it — and as you can see from the photos, it is very Parisian.

Tonya and Mike’s favorite part of the home — and their biggest project — was the outdoor space. Their home boasts a beautiful roof deck that they completely remodeled on the second floor as well as patio space off the kitchen. Mike spends most of his relaxation time by their brick pizza oven which is made by the Uni Pizza Oven company, and Tonya says she goes outside to just unwind from the day.

With an outdoor area like this, it’s hard to say no.

The second floor is their master bedroom and bathroom, the third floor has a spare room that they eventually would like to turn into a large master and build out some desperately needed closet space.

One of the most interesting aspects of the home is the secret passage doors. When Willow Terrace houses were built, they were all accessible to each other through passageways on the second floor. It sounds a little creepy, but Tonya has been reassured plenty of times that they’re sealed up {so no boogie man or visitors will be knocking on the doors}.

Tonya could not say enough about how close of a community Willow Terrace is. They have an email chain, plan plenty of block parties, and everyone knows what each other’s interiors look like. Next time you’re passing by be sure to take a stroll down those old cobblestone roads and appreciate the homes for what they are — a community within a city.
