Rabbi Moritt’s Introduction to Judaism Course at Temple Beth-El Jersey City
Course Begins on Wednesday, November 1st | REGISTER NOW
Rabbi Moritt’s Introduction to Judaism course at Temple Beth-El Jersey City, located at 2419 John F. Kennedy Blvd, begins on Wednesday, November 1st. The 20-week course will be held on Wednesday evenings at 7:30PM and is free for Temple members and just $375 per person/couple for non-members. This introductory course will focus on the “hows” and “whys” of Judaism and cover core concepts, master stories, key figures, Jewish theology and history, prayer + much more. The classes are specifically designed for everyone — including individuals and couples who are Jewish, as well as those from various faith traditions and cultural backgrounds or those who have had no religious upbringing. Additionally, there will be an optional Intro to Hebrew class available 30-minutes before class begins starting December 6th at no cost.

Embracing Balance with Alfalfa

On September 30th, Alfalfa is hosting a FREE event for the local community in an effort to promote its mission of inspiring joy through balance. The Saturday event will take place at the parking lot (157 1st Street in JC/Loading Dock) right across the street from Alfalfa’s Jersey City storefront at 160 1st Street from 12:00PM-4:00PM with some amazing local vendors. Event activities include a fitness class with Alpha Fit Club at 11AM (must sign up to take the class), cold plunges from Ice Cold Club, fitness incentives and prizes from Jane DO, and live music throughout the afternoon from DJ Takes Two Music. Plus, Alfalfa will be giving out free salads during the event, along with other lite bites and refreshments from 7th Street Burger, Baonanas, Poppi, and mocktails from Craftmix. The Laugh Tour Comedy Club located inside Dorrian’s Red Hand at 555 Washington Boulevard in Jersey City has four shows this weekend on Friday, September 22nd at 7:30PM and 9:45PM and Saturday, September 23rd at 6:30PM and 9:00PM. All shows are hosted by comedian Rich Kiamco and will feature comedians from Sirius XM, HBO, Gotham Live, Boston Comedy Festival, NY Comedy Club, NY Comedy Fest, Seth Meyers, Showtime, Jersey City Comedy Fest, and Comedy Central. The Heap Cometh to Hoboken
Friday, September 22nd starting at 3:00PM and Sunday, September 24th from 2:00PM-5:00PM | LEARN MORE
This Friday starting at 3:00PM, The Heap, a larger than life walking puppet, will be making its way throughout the Mile Square from Puppet Heap’s homebase at the Monroe Center for the Arts. The puppet will be stopping to gather whatever or whoever it encounters along the way and adding them to the towering pack on his back. Spot him at any of various shops on the route including Yukis, Black Rail, Bwè (on Washington), and The Hive. Hoboken Business Alliance has donated 100 museum tickets to the exhibit which will be given out on a first come, first serve basis during The Heap’s walk along route or wherever you see the ‘Person of Interest’ poster. The museum exhibit will take place on Sunday, September 24th from 2:00PM-5:00PM and will remain on display until November 5th at the Hoboken Historical Museum. The multi-media installation will depict a glimpse of the Heap later in life, in hibernation, after his burden had become so heavy that he has sunk halfway into the earth.
