Hoboken Wellness Crawl Coming in June

We are excited to announce the first ever Hoboken Wellness Crawl! On Sunday, June 4th we’re joining forces with local residents and businesses for a day of promoting self-care and wellness for Hudson County residents. Crawlers will be able to register and spend the day exploring all of the holistic, fitness, beauty, food and wellness opportunities that Hoboken and its surrounding areas have to offer by visiting businesses and meeting practitioners to test treatments, get consultations, and try out classes. Birch Bar Celebrates Grand Opening

Birch Bar celebrated their grand opening on Friday. The new spot takes the place of Reign which closed earlier this year. The space has been reimagined and includes Birch Bar on the ground floor, which is a bar and restaurant concept serving burgers and milkshakes, as well as a second and third floor nightclub and event space called Birch Hoboken. The interior of the building has been completely renovated, so be sure to stop by and check it out. Mile Square Theatre Presents Betrayal

The Mile Square Theatre’s newest production Betrayal will run from March 30th-April 23rd. According to MST, “Darkly humorous and charged with emotion, Betrayal explores marriage and infidelity among the entangled trio of Robert, Emma, and Jerry. Robert and Jerry are best friends and partners in a publishing firm. But an affair between Emma (Robert’s wife) and Jerry creates a tense world of deception and mistrust. Famous for its structured timeline reversal, Betrayal cinematically unravels the plot, ingeniously using dramatic irony to build tension.” The schedule for performances is Thursdays at 7:00PM, Fridays at 8:00PM, Saturdays at 3:00PM and 8:00PM, and Sunday at 3:00PM. Tickets are available at www.milesquaretheatre.org, or by calling 201-683-7014.

Veterans Yoga Project Event a Success in Hoboken

On Sunday, March 12th, Hoboken residents gathered together in support of the Veterans Yoga Project to support veterans and their families. They set a fundraising record at the event held at Stevens Institute of Technology that had upwards of 100 people in attendance with more money donated online, making it the VYP largest single site fundraiser in history.  The VYP is a national organization that helps thousands of veterans and their families reduce stress, ease pain, and release traumatic imprints that negatively impact their lives through Mindful Yoga Therapy classes and multi-day retreats. The Hoboken event was attended by VYP Founder Dr. Daniel Libby and included a yoga class for attendees as well as a post class reception.  For more information about this organization visit www.veteransyogaproject.org. 

American Legion Fundraiser to be Held on April 8th

If you’re looking for another way to help our veteran’s you’re in luck. On April 8th, the Hoboken Rotary Club is hosting a fundraiser for the Hoboken American Legion Post 107.  According to the Eventbrite page, the “American Legion is rebuilding the post with a new home for the Post as well as 6 units for homeless Veteran housing. Please support those that fought bravely for our country to help rebuild their home and also provide housing for homeless veterans.” The party will be held at the Hoboken Elks Club from 7-11:00PM and will include an open bar, small plates of food, and two live bands. Prime Real Estate & PrimeTime Title Agency are sponsors for the event. Jersey City Heights to Get New Bar & Restaurant

According to a recent article on Jersey Digs, JC Heights is getting a new spot at the former location of the Trolley Car Bar at 328 Palisade Avenue. The group that owns Downtown Jersey City hotspot, The Archeris taking over the new spot with a new restaurants called Low Fidelity BarThe restaurant will feature a classic American menu highlighting regional cuisine. They will also use the outdoor space. The goal is to open in May of this year.

 Spoken Word Event at Hoboken Historical Museum

On Sunday, April 2nd at 3:00PM the Hoboken Historical Museum will host an event inspired by the photographs of Michael Flanagan. The event will blend history, art and the spoken word and will be presented by artists who lived in and around Hoboken in the 1980s. Danny Shot, the Museum’s poet in residence, invited each of the artists and asked them to choose one or two photos from the exhibition Hoboken People & Places 1976-1994: Photographs by Michael Flanagan and write a piece to read aloud. Artie Lange Fired Following Arrest?

According to a Hudson Reporter article, comedian Artie Lange made a statement to the press last week claiming he’d been fired from his HBO television series, “Crashing” following his arrest on March 12th in Hoboken. Lange was detained after police officers found him in the parking garage of the Shipyard complex with cocaine, heroin, and drug paraphernalia. However, according to a March 23rd article in the New York Times, HBO denies that Lange has been fired and said that production for Season 1 is complete and the show has been renewed for a second season, though scripts have not been written.
