New Infant Montessori Program

Hoboken Montessori School is now enrolling for a new year-round infant program.

“We are excited to announce the launch of our new program for children ages 3 months to 18 months in September 2024, allowing us to share our Montessori approach with a broader age group. This program, developed by our esteemed School Director, Katie Cullen, benefits from her extensive background and dedication to Montessori education,” Sejal Vora, the owner and founder of Hoboken Montessori School told The Hoboken Girl.

Katie Cullen, who developed the Infant program, has over 18 years of experience working with children and 13 years of experience in Montessori education.

Starting Montessori education at a young age fosters healthy brain development + the new infant program supports holistic growth during these sensitive periods. The infant room is thoughtfully designed to provide ample space for freedom of movement and sensory exploration, emphasizing respect for the child and an understanding of their individuality.

Hoboken Montessori School is enrolling for September 2024, but there is limited availability in all of the programs. Reach out to the admissions department to learn more + start the enrollment process.

Authentic Montessori Education

Hoboken Montessori School provides an authentic Montessori education in each of its academic programs. The academic school year programs at Hoboken Montessori School begin with the Toddler Program for children 18 months to age 3, and the Primary Program for children ages 3 to 6 years old.

Every classroom is led by passionate Montessori educators who use a Montessori curriculum to help students develop a lifelong love of learning. “Our authentic Montessori approach fosters independent, curious learners through hands-on, child-centered education, cultivating a natural desire for self-directed learning. These benefits contribute to a nurturing environment where children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, preparing them for future success,” Director, Katie Cullen said.

The centerpiece of HMS’s early childhood program is the three-year preschool experience, where children remain in the same classroom, forming close bonds with their peers and their Montessori-certified head teacher. The Primary Program (3 years-Kindergarten) is highly academic, and helps students build reading, writing, math, science, geography, and other academic skills. Parents are also encouraged to actively participate in their child’s Montessori experience.

“It’s about building a community where families, educators, and students collaborate to create meaningful educational experiences that prepare children for a lifetime of success and fulfillment,” Katie said.

Spanish, art, movement, and music complement the school day program, and the school also provides before and after care, + a fun and educational 10-week summer program. The school has a personalized four-step admissions experience, starting with a school tour — which allows families to meet the teaching faculty, observe the classrooms, and learn more about authentic Montessori education for their child.

All About Hoboken Montessori School

Hoboken Montessori School is a parent-founded early childhood school for children ages 3 months to Kindergarten. Former Hoboken resident, Sejal Vora, opened the school in 2011 to give her children an authentic Montessori education.

“The most fulfilling aspect of following Dr. Montessori’s approach is witnessing children’s genuine joy and deep engagement in their own learning process. It’s about empowering them to explore and discover their interests at their own pace, fostering independence, self-confidence, and a lifelong passion for knowledge,” Sejal said.

The school has grown to include three locations in Uptown Hoboken — its newest location at 1499 Washington Street opened in September 2023. Every location is staffed with an incredible team of dedicated Montessori administrators and teachers who guide the children through the learning process.
