Jersey Cares Coat Drive Collection
Jersey Cares, a non-profit, community-based organization that works to meet community needs by encouraging civic engagement, is holding its 21st Annual Coat Drive. The organization plans to collect and distribute more than 40,000 “gently used” winter coats to men, women and children in need throughout New Jersey. Throughout the coat drive companies, churches, fire departments, police stations, schools and other organizations set up sites across the state to collect coats. Coats are then delivered by collection site representatives to the nearest container site. Volunteers sort the donated coats and bag them for pick-up, after which nonprofit organizations pick up their coats and distribute them to people in need. Local pickup locations include the Halstead Property on Washington Street in Hoboken and New Jersey City University in Jersey City.
