These Newlyweds Pulled Off a Hoboken-to-Queens Wedding {+ Totally Rocked It}

For Sarah and Chris Milton, Hoboken became home for both of them back in 2009. After years of walks down Washington together and strolls on the piers, this couple knew that they wanted to be home when they said “I do.” Being long time parishioners of Saints Peter and Paul Church in Hoboken, Sarah and Chris tied the knot in the historic church in front of all their friends and family. Here’s a look into their special day and how they pulled off a Hoboken-to-Queens wedding {quite gracefully we might add}:

Their Love Story

In classic college-party style, Sarah and Chris first met while the cops were breaking up a Halloween party in 2007. After ditching Chris for a ride home, the two met again a few months later at a Christmas party. Chris showed a big interest in Sarah and while she could not say the feelings were mutual, the two exchanged numbers anyway. Through the cold winter and many day trips to the mountains for snowboarding, the couple hit it off. “I still wasn’t convinced that Chris was boyfriend worthy and kept stringing him along for awhile…well until May 5th, 2008 when we finally decided to be a couple,” recalled the bride. The proposal came eight years {to the day} later on May 5th, 2016, in Boston where their story began.

The Ceremony + Venue

This couple knew from the beginning that they wanted their big day to take place in Hoboken {at least one part of it}. “We always knew we wanted to get married at our church, Saints Peter and Paul, this was extremely important to us, however the cost of a Jersey City or Hoboken wedding was a bit more than we expected.” Friends and family of the couple told them to look into Terrace on the Park in Queens, NY. Worried about the traffic for a Hoboken to Queens wedding, their wedding coordinator showed them photos of the penthouse with beautiful views of NYC and Citi Field, and these two Mets fans were sold. On the day of the wedding, June 10th, 2017, shuttle buses were provided for all of the guests, solving the commute problem {albeit a bit of traffic}.

Theme of the Wedding

“Chris and I both knew that the only ‘theme’ we wanted for our wedding was ‘fun’,” the bride shared. Looking to accentuate their fun and outgoing personalities, Sarah and Chris created all of their favors by themselves. Their guest book was a Mets jersey with their last name and wedding year, place cards were made to look like tickets to stadiums that they had been to together, and Chris’ dad cut a baseball bat to hold the place cards.

The Music

Knowing that a DJ wasn’t the right fit for their special night, Sarah and Chris remembered a band that they had seen about a year prior to their wedding. Nine Deeez Nite worked with the couple to make the perfect playlist, from their signature 90s covers to some special requests from the couple, they kept the party going all night.

Honeymoon Plans

“We both travel a ton for work so a destination honeymoon wasn’t really in the books. Instead we decided to go to Nashville where it was a little more lively and upbeat. Oh yea, and we’re going to Paris in December!”
