Although your weekend may consist of hoarding food from Shoprite or Trader Joe’s for Thanksgiving and planning table decor {or attending the Lehigh Lafayette Game at Yankee Stadium — go hawks!!}, I recommend taking a breather and going to one of the events in Hoboken this weekend. An exhibition that will be open until November 30th, 9 Russian artists will be presented. Here is some info about the event and artists themselves: Russian Pavilion and Barsky Gallery present “9,” a group exhibition featuring paintings, sculpture, drawings, prints, photography, video installations and performances by nine artists.  Come see the month-long exhibit at Barksy Gallery at 49 Harrison Street!

Breeders Crown Finals at Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment Friday, November 21–Saturday, November 22

 For the first time in the events 31-year history Meadowlands will be hosting all 12 of the championship races.

On Friday, November 21st, watch 4 of the 12 Breeders Crown Final races, post time is 7:15 pm. Friday is Ladies Night, including special ladies themed cocktails, roses handed out in the dining areas and a drawing for the chance to win a leather purse or clutch after Race 5.  Also, guests can head upstairs to enjoy World Free Poker in The Gallery at 7:00pm.

On Saturday, November 22nd, watch the last 8 of the 12 Breeders Crown Final races, post time is 7:15pm. Enter here to win one of five $500 win wagers on a selected Breeders Crown race from Saturday.

A 10K run/walk in Central Park benefitting the conservation and protection of Africa’s wildlife. Between 2010 and 2012, more than 100,000 elephants were lost to poaching, an average of more than 35,000 a year. Help take part in the action of the prevention of this unfortunate fact. Registration is $45, and you can register here.

Ever wanted to learn how to make a game? Join for 8 all-inclusive, free to attend, intro-level game development workshops. The entire event is free of charge.

Prepared attendees will have their own laptops with software pre-installed. Software used in the workshops are free or have free trials.

Throughout the day, there’s plenty of open workspace. Apply your new skills while you wait for a particular workshop, or get a head start on collaborating with your peers. Not attending any workshops? Feel free to bring your own work anyway! Power and internet are provided for all. Special thanks to Mission 50 for hosting and sponsoring the event.

At the end of the day, continue socializing at Mission 50, over some community-made games.
