Just when we thought we were being REALLY good at sticking to our fitness goals for the new year, Hudson Restaurant Week 2017 hit us in the face — buuuut we’re not mad about it. What better way to treat yo’self for eating healthy than by tasting your way through Hudson County with some mouth-watering dishes, offered exclusively through Hudson Restaurant Week.
Starting January 23rd through February 3rd, over 40 restaurants in the Hoboken and Jersey City area are dishing up their A-game with special discounts on lunch and dinner {boasting 2-3 courses each}, so you’ll get more bang for your buck when eating out and find a new go-to dining spot. From our favorite spots including Anthony David’s and Bin 14 to to some newfound territory in the Hudson County foodie world, there’s absolutely no reason not to feast your eyes on a dining out this week.
Because we know it’s impossible to try every single restaurant in a two-week period for lunch and dinner {although it’s a serious feat}, here’s a highlight reel of some of the most mouth-watering dishes to look forward to during HRW {and then make a reservation — STAT}:
1. Halifax: House Smoked Salmon {Hoboken}
As a Hoboken go-to for its waterfront ambiance and exquisite coastal cuisine, Halifax is offering up nothing short of amazing on its menu, but its signature smoked salmon dish is what really gets us going. Taste a flourless chocolate cake, deviled eggs, and even an apple pie sundae during this feast. A three-course lunch goes for $20 and dinner for $38.
2. HAVEN Riverfront Restaurant: Edamame Dumplings {Edgewater}
HAVEN is one of four restaurants participating in HRW down River Road {right outside Hoboken/Weehawken area!} that are SO worth the trip. Exhibit A: these savory, edamame dumplings — that are also vegan. One thing is certain: you won’t regret making a stop at this American restaurant this week. Dinner is $40 Monday through Friday.
3. Hamilton Pork: Churro Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich {Jersey City}
You’re not dreaming up this decadent treat; this beautiful dessert creation does indeed exist at Hamilton Pork. Elevate the ice cream sandwich game with cinnamon encrusted, warm churro waffles. This JC restaurant is offering up $35 dinners Monday through Friday for HRW, complete with this bomb.com dessert.
4. Ainsworth: Mac & Cheese Burger {Hoboken}
Who said mac and cheese is just for kids? Get the adult spin on the childhood favorite with an entire burger topped with ooey-gooey cheesiness in a fitting sports-bar environment. Feast on other American classics here for lunch {$18} or dinner {$38} Monday through Friday while gazing at the skyline.
5. Leo’s Grandevous: Stuffed Calamari {Hoboken}
Calamari is pretty much an appetizer staple, but we’ll place our bets that you’ve never had STUFFED calamari before. Leave it to one of Hoboken’s oldest restaurants to serve up this specialty app, which is plated over some delish linguini. Another reason to try out Leo’s: it’s been featured on the Food Channel’s Food Paradise and was one of Frank Sinatra’s favorite spots in town — aka you’re getting some legit, old-school Italian food. Every day this week, the Hoboken favorite is serving dinner plates for $38.
6. Amelia’s Bistro: Chicken Tikka Masala Meatballs {Jersey City}
If spice is more your thing, head to Amelia’s Bistro to taste the classic curry-infused dish with a twist. With this chicken tikka masala comes a side of meatballs, which is any meat-lovers dream. Monday through Friday this week, lunch specials are $17 and dinner is $30.
7. Raval Tapas Bar: Chicken and Chorizo Paella {Jersey City}
Chorizo is always something to be down for, but when we found out about this chicken and chorizo paella situation, our jaws just about dropped to the floor. Raval specializes in a variety of Spanish dishes, so if opting for more traditional dishes, you’ll be impressed. Get tapas and cocktails on during dinner this week for $35.
8. Sushi Lounge: Banana Foster Empanada {Hoboken}
Sometimes, sushi bars know a thing or two about being crafty with their presentation, and Sushi Lounge is one of those spots in the dessert department. This Banana Foster Empanada is the dessert hybrid that we know the world needs right now. Chow down on some unique rolls and dishes for $35 this week while jamming out to hip house music.
9. South House: Bacon Wrapped Onion Rings {Jersey City}
If bacon is in the description, it’s not necessary to ask us twice! At South House, all of our crispy, greasy bacon dreams are coming true with this guilty-pleasure appetizer that’ll have you wanting more. This Southern-themed restaurant boasts comfort food and yummy drinks with some Southern charm mixed in. Plates go for $35 Monday through Wednesday and also on Sunday during Hudson Restaurant Week
So many dishes to try, so little time.
