Yes, chef. After a visit to Hoboken’s Little City Books on Sunday, October 27th, Jeremy Allen White (The BearShameless) is continuing his Mile Square adventures. This morning, Tuesday, October 29th, the actor was spotted ordering coffee at Mojo’s uptown location, then heading up Bloomfield Street for a little stroll. Though he calls Brooklyn home, a New Jersey escapade isn’t totally random: JAW is billed to portray NJ legend Bruce Springsteen in an upcoming biopic about the singer (Deliver Me From Nowhere), which is set to film throughout the state. Read more for what we know about Jeremy Allen White’s visit to Hoboken and the upcoming Bruce Springsteen movie in which he’ll star.

The Details

On Sunday, October 27th, Hoboken’s neighborhood bookshop became something of a red carpet. Jeremy Allen White, known most recently for his role as Carmy in FX’s The Bear, paid a visit to the independently owned-store. Store owners shared with Patch that the actor purchased “Chicken Soup With Rice, Harold and the Purple Crayon, ‘and some Halloween books!!'” These purchases were probably not for him — as the actor has two young daughters — but if they were, no judgment. We love spooky season too.

A trip to a local bookstore seems reason enough to cross the Hudson, but the actor returned on October 29th for an early morning pick-me-up at Mojo Coffee’s uptown location. He then made his way up Bloomfield Street, which loyal readers of The Hoboken Girl know is one of our favorite streets to stroll (especially during Halloween). Bets on if he read our guide?

The Hoboken of it all isn’t completely surprising. Earlier this year, we reported that Jeremy Allen White was the top choice to portray Bruce Springsteen in an upcoming biopic about the singer called Deliver Me From Nowhere. Shortly thereafter, Jeremy secured the role — and just this week, a first look of the actor’s transformation into the NJ legend was shared by 20th Century Studios via X. See the post below.

Per our team over at The Jersey Shore Girl, the movie is slated to film in Asbury Park (where The Boss spent much of his early life) this December. But before that, on October 28th and 29th, Deliver Me From Nowhere is filming at the Montclair Public Library Bellevue Avenue branch, per Montclair Local. The Hoboken Girl did receive a tip on October 29th that something is filming downtown near Gregory’s. We can’t say for certain if it’s the Bruce biopic, but we’ll update should any details unfold.

Then again, Jeremy Allen White might just be in town to channel some of that Springsteen energy. In May 1985, Bruce Springsteen shot part of the music video for “Glory Days” at Hoboken’s once-iconic music venue, Maxwell’s. The video was directed by Hoboken resident John Sayles, and you can watch it below.

As more and more celebrities continue passing by our little city, we thought it necessary to create a comprehensive list of all the stars spotted this year. Any pop-culture junkies can read that here.
