Jersey City Manicure: LadyBird Nail + Spa

While we’ve spent the past few years scoping out the hottest nail joints in Hoboken {check out our Mani Monday series}, we’re just beginning to discover the incredible choices just across the border in Jersey City. One of the top on our list: LadyBird Nail + Spa, located a few short minutes away from the PATH in the Exchange Place district of JC on 187 Warren Street. If the name sounds vaguely familiar, you’re not going cray — it’s because we recently made mention of this 4-star rated spot in our feature of TEASE by Sunny, which resides in the downstairs area of LadyBird. While TEASE is for sure our new go-to locale for flawlessly natural eyelash extensions, we’re kind of pumped to now have a reliably fabulous nail joint right upstairs {ahem, one-stop shopping, anyone?}. Read on for the deets.

Ambiance/Cleanliness

Arriving at this JC mainstay, they greeted us with a perfectly-chilled can of grapefruit Perrier {ummm, yum!}, and the super-friendly gals at LadyBird took care of us right away. The appointment was for 6PM — highly recommended in the evenings and on weekends. As any nail-goer is, it was a relief to see freshly-UV-sanitized tools used for both manicures and pedicures — not to mention how pristinely spotless the entire salon was {which is just the way we like it}. Only hang up? From what we saw, they don’t yet line their pedicure chairs with plastic, which is actually now mandated by state law {yeah, we had no idea about this either until a recent visit to the podiatrist for a post pedi-gone-very-wrong-sitch}. You’re supposed to request it if they don’t!

Pricing

Check out the prices below. While the menu features services {including waxing and massages} a bit pricier than normal, we can confidently say it’s pretty much worth it — scroll down to The X Factor{s} to find out why.

Convenience

As mentioned before, LadyBird is a quick stroll {about 10 minutes or so} from the Exchange Place PATH, so it’s convenient for a much-needed after work mani/pedi sesh. Don’t have an excuse to head over that way on the weekend? Take a peek at White Star Bar’s mouth-watering eats {they have two locations, with one right across the street from Ladybird} and you’ll see why a quick Uber ride across the border to this adorable neighborhood needs to happen, like, yesterday.

The X Factor{s}

We get it. At a certain point, most nail salons just become run-of-the-mill, and that’s okay, especially when it boils down to what’s most important: cleanliness, convenience, and a good deal. But there’s also something to be said about the nail salons that go the extra mile. This is totally the case with LadyBird. Not only did they offer hot wax treatment for the heels and hot stone massages during pedicures {at no extra charge}, they also have chocolate-y treats laying around what feels like all over this adorably-decorated salon. All in all, they clearly took their time to give a mani/pedi experience to remember {and we were ghost-manicuring, so they had no clue we were from HG}.

Final Verdict

Two words: we’re sold. And it makes it pretty convenient to have Sunny Kim downstairs for lashes. Perfect Paulus Hook treat.
