If you are a lover of the winter season, you may at one point or another dreamed of a winter wonderland wedding — with light snow flurries making a guest appearance. This picture-perfect scene became a reality for Hoboken couple Derek and Casey Faucher in January of 2017. See how their wintery wedding day came together perfectly as they became husband and wife in Hoboken:

How They Met

Casey and Derek met in classic millennial fashion — on Tinder! However this love story went a bit differently than most Tinder tales. The couple felt an instant connection after their first date, which included a few competitive games of shuffleboard and ping pong {she beat him in shuffleboard but then he went on to beat her in ping pong and a rousing game of rock, paper, scissors}. Fast forward a few years later, Derek found himself proposing to Casey on West Side Highway, overlooking Hoboken.

Making Hoboken Home

While neither the bride or groom are originally from the NY/NJ area, they both came here for school and stayed for their jobs. Casey attended Stevens and Derek went to CCNY in NYC. After a special engagement, it didn’t take long for these two to decide on their wedding location. “At the time of our engagement, I was living in Hoboken and Derek was in NYC. Since both of our families live 6 hours away {in opposite directions} we knew family would have to travel either way and the best location for us would be where we live {and love},” Casey shared. Derek moved to Hoboken a few months before the wedding and soon felt right at home {well, duh}.

Venue and Ceremony

After a lot of research, the bride and groom decided on Kolo Klub, where they were able to have both their reception and ceremony. The rustic look of the 4,000-square-foot loft and the great staff had them hooked {along with the Southern BBQ-style menu that added a special personal touch}. Family and friends that traveled in were able to stay at the nearby Sheraton in Weehawken and all of their Hoboken friends were only a short Uber ride away. Their rehearsal dinner was held at Dozzino’s and the groom’s cake came from Sweet. “We also love doughnuts so decided to get donuts from one of our favorite NYC locations, Donut Pub, in place of a traditional wedding cake.”

The Big Day + Honeymoon Plans

Casey and Derek said “I do,” on January 14, 2017. The bride was always a beach girl and would have never pictured a January wedding, but after a magical {and slightly snowy} day, the couple noted that they would not have wanted it any other way. The unexpected snow flurries made for some beautiful photo ops.

As for the honeymoon, the newlyweds did a “mini-moon” in Hudson, NY for a few days after the wedding, and then they planned for two weeks in Portugal at the end of May {where they split their time between Lisbon and Madeira}.
