Haven’t been to the Liberty Science Center since your 4th grade field trip? Here’s a reason you’ll want to go back as an adult. Every third Thursday of the month, the Liberty Science Center hosts its LSC After Dark party — we promise you’ve NEVER seen a science center like this before. Every event is different, and most recently, we grabbed our scrunchies and Lip Smackers, and headed out to the ’90s themed #LSCAfterDark party on September 21st. {Psst – the next one is on October 19th!} Here’s a recap of everything that went down {including the craziest costumes we saw}.
At each event, expect rad games, food, and of course access to all the cool exhibits at the science center. Admission, food, and drinks are only $5 {a.k.a., the price of your morning coffee}, so if you’re looking for a cheap GNO, date night, or just a reason to pregame Friday, you’re in for a treat. Keep in mind these events are 21+, so you’ll have to keep the kiddos, ironically, at home from the science center.

You might be skeptical that the science center would throw a banger of a party, but after experiencing the craziness first hand {not in an overwhelming way, though}, it’s safe to say the place was poppin’. From the dance floor and pure excitement to the amount of dedication people put into their tribute to the ’90s, the energy was palpable. Our favorite costumes? Spice Girls and the now internet-famous turquoise paper cup print — in sweatshirt and pants form. #Impressed.
With four floors, there was a lot of ground to cover. To make things a little more digestable, here’s a breakdown of the highlights of the night:
If you felt underdressed, the ’90s makeup station could fix you right up so you could get yourself a true ’90s makeover. But the second floor is where the party reallyyy went down. It was the home of the dance floor, the DJ {who was spinning only ’90s beats all night}, Midnight Market food trucks {we recommend the MozzArepa truck}, a slime trivia station, martini bar with science-y drinks that had a smoking presentation thanks to the dry ice, and Jersey Wine and Spirits Zima tasting.
You could also walk around all the exhibits so you could look at the creepy crawly creatures, crawl through the pitch black Touch Tunnel, or find out more about how your body works and develops throughout. Anddd it just wouldn’t have been a tribute to the ’90s without a dance off, trivia, and… a Weird Al Laser Show.
