Summer is still in full swing which means live outdoor music is still a thing and we couldn’t be happier. Enjoy the last few weeks of sunlit evenings or leaving the club without a jacket in tow. For the music lover in all of us, we have rounded up the best musical events happening in Hudson County this month. Check out below:

August 1st — Alex Cameron at White Eagle Hall {337 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

Cameron is sharing his view of the world through her music. This musical genius has recorded and performed worldwide and is now making his way to Jersey City. Snag tickets for just $18 and be ready for doors to open at 8:00PM.

August 2nd — The Hoboken Mile Square All-Stars at Sinatra Park in Hoboken

All of the crowd favorites are gathering in one spot. All-star performances will be given by Krystal, Frank & Dara, and the Electric Rainbow Book Club Band. This night of musical delight will begin at 7:00PM.

August 2nd — BWQ Album Release Party at FM Bar & Grill {340 3rd Street, Jersey City}

BWQ released and album and it’s time to celebrate. They will be joined by all their friends who appear on the album such as Sylvana Joyce and Mike Kuzan. The event will run from 9:00PM-12:00AM.

August 2nd — Shelley King at Fox and Crow {594 Palisade Avenue, Jersey City}

Kick off a month of live music with Shelley King. The show is from 8:00PM-10:00PM.

August 3rd — Roosevelt Dime at Fox and Crow {594 Palisade Avenue, Jersey City}

This group of fellas is joining together for a late night of music. Even runs from 10:00PM-12:00AM.

August 4th — The Shacks at Monty Hall {43 Montgomery Street, Jersey City}

The NY native group is making their way to Jersey City. Enjoy the soft sounds of Max Sharger and Shannon Wise at this intimate venue. Head on over to ticketfly.com for $12 tickets. Doors open at 7:30PM and the show will start an hour later.

AXIS School of Dance

August 5th — The Rubinoos at Monty Hall {43 Montgomery Street, Jersey City}

With humble beginnings dating all the way back to 1974, The Rubinoos are no stranger to winning over crowds. And they are coming to Monty Hall to do it again. Tickets range from $15-$20 with doors opening at 7:00PM.

August 6th — Open Mic Mondays at FM Bar & Grill {340 3rd Street, Jersey City}

For the first Monday in August, FM will feature Bobby Stroem for their weekly open mic night. Aspiring artists—come ready to showcase what you got! Doors open at 8 and event runs through 11:00PM.

August 7th — RNA’s Backroom Broadside at Fox and Crow Jersey City {594 Palisade Avenue, Jersey City}

A little spin-off of a typical night of music. Enjoy a Tuesday night of spoken word from 7:30PM-10:00PM. Audience participation is welcomed followed by two feature performers.

August 9th — Julio Fernandez & Friends at Sinatra Park in Hoboken

When the title of “world-renown” and “30-year professional” are combined, it is bound to be a night of amazing music. Julio Fernandez is just that. Join him and friends to witness music mastery. It is advised to purchase advanced tickets at either Guitar Bar location {160 First Street. Hoboken or 203 11th Street Hoboken, NJ 07030}.

August 9th — Jack Skuller at Fox and Crow {594 Palisade Avenue, Jersey City}

An evening with music’s great Jack Skuller along with special guests. Event starts at 8:00PM and ends at 10:00PM.

August 10th — Slyvana Joyce at Fox and Crow {594 Palisade Avenue, Jersey City}

Critics say, “Sylvana Joyce doesn’t just sing, she performs”. Her show at Fox and Crow starts at 10:00PM and goes through 12:00AM.

August 11th — Divas Pride Salsa Brunch at Hard Grove {286 1st Street, Jersey City}

This official Jersey City Pride event is hosted by the comedy Queen herself, Harmonica Sunbeam starring Victoria Cortez and Caracol de Cuba, with music by DJ George Soull. Tickets are $25 and include a full brunch with choice of entrée, coffee/ tea, mimosa, Bellini, or sangria as well as access to drink specials. Limited tickets are available, and the event is expected to sell out.

August 11th — Ed & Mary’s PRIDE Block Party {174 Coles Street, Jersey City}

The first ever PRIDE Block Party is being held at Ed & Mary’s bar/restaurant from 12:00PM-6:00PM. A day of fun including live music and other great features such as drag performances, local vendors, raffles, and more. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Jersey City LGBTQ community through the Hudson PRIDE Center

August 16th — 90’s Night PRIDE Party at White Eagle Hall {337 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

Any party is a great party but one with costumes and giveaways is on another level. This official PRIDE event will give a tribute to the 90’s featuring DJ Blazin B. Must be 21 to enter. Tickets range from $10-$15 with discounts being offered for those dressed in their 90s best.

August 16th — The Swingadelic Band at Sinatra Park in Hoboken

Hoboken will be one of this bands 100+ stops just this year alone. Performing together since 1998, Swingadelic joins Jazz & Blues to make a sweet sound. The show starts at 7:00PM.

August 16th — Vacation Resounding No, Dadddies at Monty Hall {43 Montgomery Street, Jersey City}

After a recent release of their new LP and their first single, Vacation is ready to rock out. Their sound has been described as a combination of casual while also raising hell. The doors open at 7:30PM and tickets are sold starting at $10.

August 16th — Spaghetti Sessions Songwriter Showcase at Fox and Crow {594 Palisade Avenue, Jersey City}

Calling all songwriters. A workshop over 7 years old that gives aspiring singers, songwriters, and artists a chance to showcase their work and gain feedback from peers. The 2-hour session starts at 8:00PM.

August 17th — Vav at White Eagle Hall {337 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

In just 3 short years, VAV has released 10 singles and successfully done tours in Europe, Japan and Brazil. They are heading to the U.S. for a Meet & Greet and live tour. Score tickets now. Tickets run from $49-$179 {VIP tix include a sweet photo session, early entry, and admission to preferred GA section}.

August 18th — Violet at Fox and Crow {594 Palisade Avenue, Jersey City}

Meredith Minouge a.k.a Violet and Jim Barry are joining together for a night of folk-rock. Concert begins at 8:00PM.

August 17th — Fringe Fest Equality Rocks Music Spectacular and Costume Contest at FM Jersey City Bar & Grill {340 3rd Street, Jersey City}

Kick off Jersey City Pride Week at this must-attend event starring singer and host Evan Laurence and DJ Chauncey Dandridge. Other performers include Claudi Love, Lady Clover Honey, Corey TuT, Bella Noche, and The Debbie-Donnas. Don’t forget—this event is also a costume contest so come decked out. Get $5 tickets when doors open at 9:00PM.

August 17th — Tom West at Fox and Crow {594 Palisade Avenue, Jersey City}

Hailing from the other side of the world, Tom West is in from Australia and is coming to Jersey City. For some whimsical folk tunes, head over to Fox and Crow from 10:00PM-12:00AM.

August 21st — Jungle Boogie: A JC PRIDE Dance Party

This dance party is for all to showcase their PRIDE. All are welcomed and asked to participate in a night of dancing, taco eating, and margarita drinking. The event is co-presented by the Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival.

August 23rd — ALLAH-LAS at White Eagle Hall {337 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

Combining old school with new tunes — Allah-Las is back for the first time after 2 years with Covers #1. This is the first of a new series of EPs, which combines old favs of the band and new, undiscovered tunes. The show starts at 9:00PM with tickets ranging from $16-$18.

August 24th — PRIDE: A Deeper Love

DJ Paul Mendoza is hitting the spin table for this Jersey City LGBT PRIDE Unofficial Kickoff. Awesome tunes are accompanied by PRIDE specialty cocktails and drink specials all night long.

August 26 — Vetiver Espers at White Eagle Hall {337 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

This Cali band has been recording and performing for over a decade. The album, Complete Strangers, is now together and ready for an audience. Doors to the show open at 7pm and tickets start at $20.

Weekly Events

Jazz for Lunch at Exchange Place

Head on over to Exchange Place for a groovy lunch — every Thursday from 12:00PM-2:00PM at The J. Owen Grundy Pier.

Wednesday Concert Series in Jersey City

This concert series happens every hump day from 6:00PM-8:00PM at Berry Lane Park in Jersey City.

Summer Dance Series

This weekly event is for the dancer in all of us. Stay at Exchange Place all day on Thursday to catch this dancing series from 6:30PM-8:00PM. Event is free and open to the public.

Summer Fest at Liberty State Park, Jersey City

In partnership with NJCU, Liberty State Park hosts live music every Tuesday {6:30PM-8:30PM} and Sunday {6:00PM-8:00PM}. Both dates are open to the public and free to attend.

Horizon Foundation Sound of the City

One of NJ’s premier entertainment venues, NJPAC is hosting weekly free concerts. Join in on the fun every Thursday night to hear artist ranging from Antibalas to Rah Digga. BOYS {bring your own seat} starting at 5:00PM.

The Cuban {333 Washington Street, Hoboken}

Every Thursday night, The Cuban hosts Havana Nights Live Music and live music during Sunday brunch.

FM Bar & Grill {340 3rd Street, Jersey City}

Every Monday at FM Bar & Grill is Open Mic Monday. Showcase new talent every Monday at this musical powerhouse of a venue. Each week a different special guest is in the house for feedback. A full backline, guitar and bass amps, and drum kit are available for use. Please bring your own cymbals if needed.

Wine and Whiskey Lounge — {116 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

Choose any night of the weekend {Friday, Saturday, or Sunday} to enjoy a variety of live musical performers.

J.C. Underground — {116 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

Mondays is Piano Bar Night at J.C Underground. Request any song and their live pianist will play it on a baby grand piano. Pretty sweet!

Every Wednesday from 7:00PM-12:30AM, be surprised with the musical genre of the night. A variety ranges from jazz to rat pack and burlesque to pop.

On Saturdays, it’s a full night of music and fun. Starting at 7:00PM, Big Bruce and the Messengers provide a nice mix of old school R&B, Pop Classic Soul, and Motown. Directly following at 10:30PM, a Top 40 DJ starts spinning the heat with the best on the charts as well as old school R&B and Euro house.
