  • A Look at the Dwight-Englewood School {+ Open House Dates}

    Hoboken and Jersey City moms and dads, this one’s for you. Summer is winding down, nights are getting cooler, and candy corn is creeping up in convenient stores. You know what that means — back to school time is here! If you’re looking to send your little ones to an independent school with a rich history in educational excellence, you should take a look at the Dwight-Englewood School in Englewood, NJ. Before the distance turns you away, know that Dwight-Englewood is only a few minutes from the GWB and there is bus transportation available from Hoboken. Interested? Keep reading.

    The school has been around for almost 130 years, so to say they really know what they’re doing when it comes to academia would be an understatement. Dwight-Englewood is a private co-educational day school for children from pre-school {age 3} to grade 12, with seamless transitions throughout their three levels of education — Lower, Middle, and Upper. They pride themselves on providing individualized attention {we’re talking a faculty/student ratio of 1:9} where class sizes do not exceed 18 students, and offer a long and varied list of clubs and activities for their Middle and Upper schools.

    And the view isn’t bad either. The gated campus is over 40 acres, with manicured fields and ground. The warm academic atmosphere contributes not only to aesthetics, but also to the innovative and nurturing environment that is fostered by the Dwight-Englewood School, yet still prepares students for the highest level of college and university life. Dwight-Englewood also happens to be the most ethnically diverse school in Bergen County, with students representing over 900 communities throughout NY and NJ.

Though she’s been a Jersey girl since her mother danced on a chair at a Bruce Springsteen concert while 8-months pregnant, Michele’s life is anything but basic. When not working in cosmetic design and marketing, Michele can be found eating her way around the Mile Square and JC, so it’s a good thing she’s also a marathoner and soccer player. Aside from adding to her already extensive collection of throw pillows, Michele enjoys a good beer, a chai tea latte, and chillin’ with her kitties, Bo and Samson.
