Shortly after emigrating from Altamura Bari, Italy in 1971, Nicola and Danny Losurdo opened Losurdo’s Deli out of Hoboken in 1975 and have operated at the 410 2nd Street location ever since. Building their business around a simple concept, “We only make what we can do at the best quality — if we can’t do it right, we don’t do it at all,” it’s clear they’ve done a lot of things right. But after 50 years, Losurdo’s Brothers, one of Hoboken’s longest-standing family-owned Italian delis in Hoboken, announced in early November that it would be closing in December. The deli’s family members made a statement on Instagram about the closure.

“It is with a heavy heart that we share our family business Losurdo Brothers (Tony’s Bakery) will be closing its doors on Sunday, December 8, 2024.

It has been an incredible 50 years serving the people of Hoboken and beyond.

To our loyal customers and supporters — Thank You!”

The last day of business will be Sunday, December 8th, 2024. Losurdo’s hours will be 6:30AM-1PM, and from 2PM-5PM, the deli will provide food, drinks, and music for locals to enjoy as a part of a customer appreciation event.

“We encourage all to come and spend some last moments with us,” the Instagram post reads. See the full post below.

Over the last five decades, Losurdo’s has grown into a full-service deli with a hot bar, fresh baked goods, and specialty imports. It also bakes fresh bread at 5:30AM daily in all sorts of varieties and sizes, and serves up hot specials throughout the week on @losurdobros which is updated regularly. Along with the savory items, the brothers bake a variety of Italian cookies + biscotti, an ideal pairing for a mid-morning espresso.
