Jersey City is well known for many things — breathtaking views of Manhattan, a diverse array of cuisines, a vibrant art scene, and so much more. Another iconic spot, popular in the golf world, is Liberty National Golf Club, a world-class golf club, located at 100 Caven Point Road in Jersey City. It is at this location where The Mizuho Americas Open will welcome the LPGA Tour to Jersey City for the first time, from May 31st to June 4th. Read on to learn more about the LPGA tournament and how to score tickets to the event.
The Mizuho Americas Open
Liberty National Golf Club is thrilled to welcome the LPGA Tour for the first time in club history from May 31st to June 4th. The Mizuho Americas Open will showcase the best women golfers in the world competing for a $2.75 million purse — one of the largest non-major championship purses on the LPGA Tour this 2023 season.
The tournament will be hosted by LPGA icon and Major Champion, Michelle Wie West. Michelle accepted the Mizuho Americas’ invitation to host the first-ever LPGA tournament after having taken a step away from professional golf to focus on her family and advocacy. She will return to the sport based on the shared values and commitment to making an impact on women athletes, youth, and society.

The partnership between the LPGA, Mizuho Americas, and Liberty National Golf Club will stand as the global bank’s first entry into sports sponsorship in the US. Girls Inc., is the charitable partner for the event, as the organization is committed to providing opportunities for girls (particularly from low-income communities), to gain access to more leadership opportunities — a mission we here at The Hoboken Girl definitely stand behind.
“The Mizuho Americas Open is a purpose-driven partnership that aligns our shared values of opportunity, equity, and advancing the next generation of talent,” Shuji Matsuura, Chairman & CEO, of Mizuho Americas shared with us. “We look forward to collaborating closely with the LPGA and inviting colleagues and clients to join in supporting this world-class event that promotes women, celebrates excellence, and sets new standards of competition.”
Tournament Details
The Mizuho Americas Open Tournament will host 120 LPGA Tour professional women golfers. Concurrently, 24 junior golfers from the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Tour will compete in a separate tournament at Liberty National. This year’s tournament will most definitely be an inspiration to future generations of golfers and will encourage more women to pursue the game of golf.
“The Mizuho Americas Open immediately establishes itself as one of the premier events on the LPGA calendar,” Kevin Hopkins, Vice President, Excel Sports Management and Hoboken resident told Team HG. “With a committed Title Sponsor, a unique format, an influential tournament host, and a first-class venue, we have all the pieces in place to create a special experience for our players, sponsors, and the passionate golf and sports fans here in the New York Metropolitan Area.”
One of the most notable competitors from the American Junior Golf Association will be Basking Ridge resident, Katie Li. The 8th ranked junior golfer in the Rolex AJGA Girls Rankings and the top girl’s golfer in New Jersey, according to the New Jersey State Golf Association, is an incredible feat in a historically male-dominated sport — and we love to see it!
