A warm breeze, lawn games, great music, and a class of frosé enjoyed while overlooking the New York skyline — how everyone wants to spend summer nights in Hudson County. Thankfully, with the Lutze soft opening this week {located at 3 2nd Street along the waterfront in Jersey City} for the 2018 season, those nights will soon be very easy to come by. Read on below for all the details on their upcoming opening and the updates at Lutze that will make this year even better than last year’s epic start:

About Lutze

Lutze opened last year and quickly became a local favorite as the first open-air Biergarten on the waterfront. According to the founder, Michael J. DeMarco, CEO of the Mack-Cali Realty Corporation, “the Biergarten was influenced by the history of accepting and welcoming new arrivals and creating a place where they could thrive and add to America’s culture.” Lutze’s creation was inspired by German American settlers in Jersey City and named after Wilhelm Lutze who spent his life in Jersey City and worked as a carpenter and mason. With plenty of outdoor space, a variety of lawn games, and a mix of great bars and food trucks, the Lutze is truly an outdoor haven that feels more like a backyard {with the best views ever!}.

Updates to the Space

This year, the Lutze kicks off their second season with a soft opening party on Wednesday, May 16th from 4:00PM-10:00PM. They’ll still have the same Insta-worthy views, but the venue has undergone construction and been completely revamped with new and updated bars, beers, cocktails, games, and food. Each new bar has over 20 taps which will bring a variety of new draft beers and cocktails to Jersey City.

The Opening Party

Throughout the opening party, the brand-new brick oven operated by Pizza Vita will be serving fresh pizza all night long, while Eddie the oyster man cranks out his famous crab cakes. This year, Lutze also adds party platters, desserts, a kids menu, and other new choices as exciting additions to the menu. And, to encourage a vibe that welcomes big groups of friends, families, and pets {duh} — shared pitchers, more group seating, and plenty of dog bowls are on the menu.

FYI: There will be exciting giveaways throughout the soft-opening and the upcoming weekend, so be sure to stop by for a glass of wine or beer and pick up a giveaway.
