Downtown Jersey City is losing a beloved sweet shop. On Thursday, October 24th, Milk + Cream Cereal Bar announced the permanent closure of its Newark Avenue location, with this weekend being its last. The shop first opened in 2020 and grew popular in town for its decadent selection of cereal-stacked ice creams, milkshakes, and pints. If you’ve never been, there’s still time to stop by: Milk + Cream will be open this weekend and invites locals to indulge in one last bite of nostalgia before it closes. The team cited “the tough economy and rising rents” as the main reason for closing. Despite heavy hearts, Milk + Cream expressed gratitude to staff members, customers, and the surrounding Jersey City community for their support over the last four years.

In under an hour, the post accrued over 1,000 likes and 60 comments, with locals sharing their love for the establishment and disappointment in its closure. “End of an era. You’ll be missed dearly,” one user commented. “So sad to hear. Such a great place. My kids and I loved taking the trip for it,” shared another.
Milk + Cream isn’t the only business closure to hit Hoboken + Jersey City headlines as of late. Just last month, Kong Dog and Sri Thai quietly closed their Hoboken storefronts, while Amelia’s Bistro said goodbye to Jersey City in late August. Of course, new businesses continue to enter the ring too: including 4 new food spots across Hoboken, Jersey City, and Weehawken.
“It’s hard making this decision, mainly because we felt like we were a part of the community,” the team shared with The Hoboken Girl. “It was the best seeing regulars from the neighborhood come in and enjoy a little treat. We know it’s not our last venture, but shuttering the first one still stings.”
About Milk + Cream Cereal Bar
Milk + Cream Cereal Bar first opened in Manhattan in 2017, but made the jump across the Hudson in 2020 to open a Jersey City location at 175 Newark Avenue. With the new storefront came its cereal-inspired ice cream creations, including cream swirls, milkshakes, pints, and bowls of cereal.

The menu is what Instagram Explore Page dreams are made of: tall swirls of ice cream topped with heaping mounds of childhood favorites like Lucky Charms, Teddy Grahams, Fruit Loops, etc. And that’s only the (literal) tip of the iceberg — modes of treat transportation include colorful cones, cone bowls, and cups.
In 2023, Milk + Cream teamed up with another local favorite, The Grind Coffee Shop, to launch a coffee pop-up inside the ice cream shop. Together, the two Jersey City businesses served free drip coffee every day from 7AM – 9:30AM, to promote community and creativity.

The design strikes a balance between earthy tones, bold accents, and a blend of natural textures accented by natural light. Original artwork from local talent and adorns the space, creating a sense of community that team HG loves to be part of (yes, we’re members!). It’s hard to imagine that a workplace could be this inviting, but Andco really ups the ante.
Memberships + Day Passes
Andco has several packages and options that cater to all business needs — whether you require a dedicated private space or need something more flexible. Members have access to amenities including printing, mail service, the lounge café, the Meadow Room, rooftop terrace, conference rooms, and all events + programming.
Membership options include:
Day Pass ($35): enjoy all the essentials for a day — WiFi, printing, coffee, tea, snacks, and access to the lounge and rooftop terrace. There’s also a ten-day pass for $275 which includes daily access during operating hours and use of the conference room for up to four hours over three months.
Open Membership ($350/month): daily access to the open workspace plus four hours of conference room time per month. A great option for freelancers or those who need flexibility.
‘Hot Office’ ($150/day) + ‘Hot Desk’ ($100/day) rentals are available and are ideal for those in need of a quiet space or open-space room to get work done.
