It has also been reported that Anthony Romano conceded at his gathering downtown, saying that Ravi Bhalla or Mike DeFusco would be the new Mayor of Hoboken.

Update as of 11/7 at 9:57PM:

Preliminary, unconfirmed reports on NJ.com are saying it’s “down to the wire” between Ravi Bhalla and Mike DeFusco. They’re also noting that the winner may not be decided tonight because of the VBM {votes by mail}.

For a live look at the election results across New Jersey, you can look at the NYTimes NJ Election coverage or online at Hudson County clerk’s office here {OR keep refreshing this page as we’ll be sharing updates as we know them}.

In governor news, Phil Murphy appears to have won the New Jersey gubernatorial race, as reported on NJ.com and several other media outlets. The 60-year-old former Goldman Sachs exec will be the first Democrat in office since 2009. The other governor’s race in Virginia was also won by Democrat Ralph Northam, many news outlets are reporting.

As far as the City Council Hoboken winners, the results:

  • Emily Jabbour (City Council)
  • James Doyle (City Council)
  • Vanessa Falco (City Council)

For Board of Education winners, the results:

  • Melanie Tekirian
  • Sharyn Angley
  • Chetali Khanna

Steven Fulop is also the reported winner of the Jersey City mayoral election according to the Hudson County Clerk’s office.

This election season brought six candidates to the mayoral race, 14 candidates to the city council race, and 7 board of education candidates. But regardless of who won, it’s pretty clear: Politics is quite divisive, even on local levels.

We’re looking forward to a less politically-charged rest of the holiday season, and oh yeah — less mail. Kudos to all who used our election series to stay informed and make an educated choice about who will lead Hoboken into the future.
