Newport Jersey City Welcomes THREE New Restaurants to Town

While it’s no surprise that Newport {and its luxury high-rises} is a place many call home, Jersey City’s waterfront gem has been slow to develop a restaurant scene outside of the mall {RIP Battello, still waiting on an update for re-opening!}. Luckily some of our favorite restaurant entrepreneurs sensed the void and partnered with the city to open THREE new restaurants of differing cuisines by mid 2018. Whether you’re looking for Asian, Mexican, or a classic filet mignon, a trip to Newport Jersey City will soon satisfy any craving. Below are the three restaurants coming to town — Menya Sandaime, Ruth’s Chris, and Los Cuernos:

Menya Sandaime {570 Washington Blvd}

Originally opened in Fort Lee in 2014, Menya Sandaime has officially launched its soft opening in Jersey City. Noodle connoisseurs can look forward to fresh noodles made in-house and traditional tonkotsu broth as the base of the ramen specialties. Menu items include miso, black, and karakuch ramen paired with pork belly, stir-fried vegetables, scallions, marinated egg, bean sprouts or a combination of ingredients. Vegan and vegetarian miso broth is available as well as seasonal specials. Whether you’re looking for lunch or dinner, entrees won’t break the bank as most meals range from $9-13.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House {499 Washington Blvd}

Best known for USDA prime steaks that are seared at 1800°, Ruth’s Chris Steak House is officially open. The 11,750-square-foot space was vacant for nearly two years and many of the steakhouse’s new neighbors {including JP Morgan and Tory Burch} are thrilled to add a high-end restaurant to the neighborhood. The interior features an oversized bar, main dining room, four private dining spaces, and two outdoor patios. Here’s to hoping the Newport location adopts similar lunch and happy-hour specials as the Weehawken restaurant.

Los Cuernos {499 Washington Blvd}

From the culinary masterminds behind Taqueria Downtown {need we say more} comes Los Cuernos, Newport’s newest Mexican restaurant. Set to open in April 2018, Los Cuernos will offer a more upscale take on traditional Mexican food. While most details for Los Cuernos are still under wraps, we can definitely say that the dining space will be bigger than Taqueria Downtown {score!}, and we sure hope their signature margarita recipe makes its way over to the waterfront.
