Guitar Bar Attempts World Record Again

Harborside Sport + Spine

On Thursday, musicians of all skill levels met at Sinatra Park in an effort to beat the world record for largest band. For the past four summers, Guitar Bar has been trying to pull it off with a collection of autistic instruments, including guitar, mandolin, and ukulele. Unfortunately, they were not able to beat the current record which was set by the Beijing Contemporary Music Academy in China with 953 people in June 2016, but the night was filled with great music, regardless. They kicked off the evening with “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door,” then proceeded to play other tunes throughout the night. Start practicing now for next year’s attempt!

via

Two years {and $200,000 of taxpayer money} later, litigation between the Hoboken Board of Education and the Hoboken Dual Language Charter School {HoLa} has finally ended due to a decision by the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Superior Court. The disagreement was over whether HoLa should be allowed to expand its program to 7th and 8th grades. Hoboken Board of Education members argued that the charter school’s expansion showed trends of segregation, but the appellate panel of judges found this to be untrue.
