Fall isn’t all about football and finding your favorite pumpkin flavored beverage, there’s plenty more to do {and hear} in the Mile Square this month. From big band royalty and our favorite cover band to pop princess Katy Perry, there’s a local show for any music palette in the coming weeks {although we totally suggest trying something outside your normal genre, as well}. Check out our top picks below!

Friday, October 6th at Willie McBrides

They’re here! Beloved Hoboken and NJ celebrities, The Nerds, are playing at Willie McBrides at 11PM. If you’ve lived in Hoboken for a minute, you know what’s up, but if you’ve never seen The Nerds play, then plan to head over to Willie McBrides on Friday for what is sure to be a packed venue and a lot of fun.

Saturday, October 7th at Stevens Institute {Debaun Auditorium}

Enjoy a night of smooth voices and golden oldies at Frank Sinatra + Jimmy Van Heusen: A musical Journey. The show, which is free and starts at 7PM, features performances by Hoboken-based group The Swingadelic Big Band and Sinatra Idol winners Peter Cafasso and Jerry Pearce. And the really cool part? There’ll be music royalty in the house — guest singers include A.J. Lambert, granddaughter of Old Blue Eyes himself, and Phil Crosby, grandson of White Christmas crooner Bing Crosby. No word yet if the two will reprise their grandfathers’ famous High Society duet.

Sunday, October 8th at Prudential Center

Katy Perry takes the stage in Newark for her Witness tour, marking her sixth album {seriously, her I Kissed a Girl days were SIX albums ago}. As a bonus, Noah Cyrus is joining her for this leg of the tour. The show starts at 7PM, and you can snag tickets starting at $58 on Ticketmaster.

Thursday, October 12th at Maxwell’s

Lion + Tiger is holding a no-cover wedding band showcase at Maxwell’s — a can’t-miss if you’re in the midst of nuptial-planning {or hoping to be soon – wink}. The band focuses on top-40 hits, but has a seriously impressive master set-list to keep guests of all ages happy. Doors open at 8:30PM.

Wednesday, October 18th at White Eagle Hall

Fresh off of a world tour {we’re talking 89 concerts, 15 countries}, Max Weinberg, long-time drummer for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band is heading to Jersey City to do something a little different. Max Weinberg’s Jukebox is an interactive performance where the audience creates the setlist in real time! Max and his four piece group will play from a selection of over 200 classic rock and roll songs – from the Beatles to the Stones to The Boss himself.
