Looking for something different to do this weekend? Head over to the Bergen-Lafayette section of Jersey City for one of the most unique and high quality shopping experiences the bustling city has to offer: Pacific Flea. Located at 149 Pacific Ave and taking place on the second Saturday of every month from April – October, Pacific Flea hosts a massive network of different vendors and crafters, live music, art shows, and tasty foods for shoppers of all ages.

Jersey City native, Stuart Metrick, began collecting antiques more than 20 years ago while owning Antiques and Collectible on Christopher Columbus Drive. Stuart and his late wife, Michelle, moved out of Jersey, but quickly returned to their lot on Pacific Ave. What originally started as a garage sale, eventually turned into a flea market — and from there, it only continued to grow.

The Pacific Flea mission is to “foster a creative environment that benefits the whole community.” Their one-of-a-kind market features all kinds of fine handmade crafts, original art, elegant antiques, and rare vintage items, but also features live music and curated art shows.” And by the way, they host a handful of rotating food trucks {and we’re sold!}. They offer everything from cameras and records, repurposed light fixtures, oddities and housewares, making this flea market an absolute community favorite.

Although the flea market is only open for half the year, they still have a few dates remaining in their 2017 season. On Saturday, August 12th and September 9th from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm and on October 14th from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm, this little slice of Jersey City will continue to draw antique-lovers from near and far with new items being added every month.
