As if the warm weather finally getting here wasn’t enough to make us excited for the weekend, Pier 13 has announced that they will be open for the season as of Tuesday, May 1st. So, head on over, grab some sangria, indulge in some food truck fare, and enjoy the start of spring — because we deserve it after that never-ending winter. Here are some of our favorite things about Pier 13:
1. The Location
There’s no arguing that there’s nothing better than hanging out with friends and sipping on some cocktails while on the riverfront with views of NYC in the near distance. Pier 13 is just that, a pier, filled with drinks, food, music, and fun and is the perfect spot for when the weather is warm.
2. The Food
Whatever you’re craving, chances are one of the food trucks at Pier 13 will have it. From empanadas to pizza to ice cream {+ dairy free ice cream from Amanda Bananas, above}, doughnuts, po’boys, and beyond, theres a food truck for everyone. Trucks vary depending on when you go, so you’ll never get the same exact options twice.
3. The Drinks
Sangria {white and red}, rum buckets, wine, beer — you name it, the bar at Pier 13 has it. Keep in mind, you can only drink towards the back on the grass and cannot take drinks out to where the food trucks are. There is also always a bouncer before entering the grass area, so make sure to have your ID handy.
4. The Atmosphere
Whether you’re hanging by the food trucks or in the back on the grass, the atmosphere at Pier 13 is super chill, yet fun. By the food trucks are benches and tables {some with umbrellas} where you can enjoy a quick meal from the food trucks. The grass area is where the fun truly is — filled with large comfy lawn chairs and small tables with the skyline right in yo’ face.
5. It’s Dog Friendly
Need we say more? Pier 13 is dog friendly, and some of the food trucks even have water bowls and treats for the pups who want to enjoy some Pier 13 fun, too. So grab your fur baby and head out for a day of fun.
6. It’s Kid Friendly
Good news for mamas and dadas of the Mile square — Pier 13 is kid friendly so there’s no need to search for a babysitter if you want to go out for some last minute outdoor fun.
Will you be heading to Pier 13 this weekend?
