If you’ve frequented shore points such as Belmar, Asbury Park, Seaside, or Toms River {to name a few} you’re probably familiar with Playa Bowls — not only for their delish acai bowls, but for their witty slogan, #GoBowlsDeep {lulllz}. Just in time for summer, the Mile Square is Playa Bowls‘ newest home and is officially open at 100 Hudson Street in Hoboken, formerly home to Hansel & Griddle. We visited the new space and we’re sharing all the details with you. Read on to learn more about Hoboken’s newest açai bowl addition downtown:

About Playa Bowls:

With over 30 locations on the East Coast {and a food truck}, Playa Bowls is definitely a big player in the açai bowl game. They have dedicated customers all over this side of the country, from Jersey, to Pennsylvania, and even to Florida, with over 20 locations that are still to come.

The Atmosphere:

With your first step inside this joint, you automatically get the island/beachy vibes that any of their South Jersey storefronts would give you. You might actually even be disappointed walking outside afterwards when you realize you aren’t anywhere near the beach.

There is a good amount of seating inside the shop, and yes, those are surfboard tables {pictured above} to enjoy your açai bowls on. There will also be stools along the windows as well as outside seating #score.

There are also hand-painted murals on the walls {which are beautiful} — we can’t wait to see the finished product!

The Menu:

Playa Bowls does not play when it comes to bowls — they have your regular açai bowls with a blended açai base, but definitely do not stop there. Their menu also includes pitaya bowls {blend of pitaya, banana pineapple, + coconut milk}, banana bowls {blend of banana, honey, + almond milk}, chia pudding bowls {blend of chia seeds, coconut milk, agave, + vanilla}, green bowls {blend of kale, pineapple, banana + coconut milk}, and coconut bowls {blend of raw coconut, banana, agave, + coconut milk}. Now, these are just the bases of the bowls, on top of these different bases you can get a different variety of toppings, just like your typical açai bowl.

Some creations include: Nutelloco {coconut blend topped with granola, banana, strawberry, raw cacao, coconut flakes, and Nutella — TDF!}, Tide Bowl {banana blend topped with granola, pineapple, mango, kiwi, goji berries, and honey, and the Trailblazer {granola, chocolate protein, banana raw cacao, and peanut butter. These are just some of the menu items — seriously, the menu is huuuuge.

Also on the menu are fresh juices, smoothies, oatmeal bowls, poke bowls, AND lemonade from Lizzmonade, their local lemonade company you most likely remember from the Hoboken Art & Music Festival or Farmer’s Market {+ their Harborside pop-up!}.
